He unlocked the front door and keyed in the security code. She stepped in and he closed the door, locking it and setting the night time alarm. They were in for the night, and they would not be disturbed.
He dragged his gaze up her body. The heels of those skin colored sandals accentuated her calves perfectly. The hem of her dress ended midway up her thigh, leaving just enough to the imagination. He didn’t need to use his imagination, he knew every glorious inch of her body. The soft fabric skimmed over her hips and dipped in slightly at the waist before framing her breasts. My thoughts 💭

I liked this book. Drucilla is destined to become the queen and other monster families want their sons to lead. Drucilla was just trying to reconnect with her childhood friends but some of them were determined to run her off. The guys eventually do run her off and it breaks her heart. They did it to protect her since someone was trying to kill her. I can’t wait to read what’s next!

“Are you going to
kill me now?”

My men step up
behind her, but she doesn’t dare turn her head. Two of them hook their arms
under Decker’s and drag him past us, giving us a wide berth. Her eyes follow
his slumped body. The man won’t shut up. All the groaning, the whining—fucking
pathetic. 

“You said you would
do anything to save him. That was your bargain. Are you telling me you’d rather
be dead?”

A flicker of fear is
chased off her face by a nameless expression, a light flaring in her eyes. She
glances down at Conor, the whites of her eyes glowing in the moonlight. “No,”
she whispers. “I want to live.” 

I lean in close,
bending down so my lips are level with my ear. Her heart beats hard under my
fingertips. She smells sweet, like roses and sunshine and something unique to
her. It must be the fresh softness of her. Fuck, the things I’m going to do to
her, dangling her not-boyfriend on a string as if she’ll ever be anything but

He turned and looked out on the floor. It took him longer to find her because she was hidden behind the biker talking to her. He craned his neck, caught her smiling at the other man, and tensed.

Stalking across the floor, he shoved people out of his way and stepped between her and the Tarkio member.

“Man, you better step away,” said the biker.

“Get lost.” He grabbed Callie’s upper arm and pulled her away.

“Wh…?” Callie stumbled beside him. “Who?”

He ignored her mumblings and pushed out the front door. Turning her to face him, he gazed up and down her body to make sure she was okay.

Callie’s mouth opened and shut numerous times, and she blinked rapidly. “Kent?”

“Nice of you to recognize me,” he said.

“I thought I’d never see you again.” She planted her hands on his chest, but her body weaved side to side, trying to gain her balance.

He caught her other arm and held her steady in front of him. That’s when he noticed the way her eyes remained unfocused on him.

“What the hell have you been doing?” He stroked her hair out of her eyes.

Gut punched, he remembered the excitement, the passion, the energy swirling around her the night she’d finally let loose and egged her ex-husband’s truck. He’d walked away from her that night as if he’d gotten his first taste of the real Callie, and his addiction to her had started.

My thoughts 💭

That ending definitely left me wanting more!! Peyton is fierce and I absolutely loved her! The magically repressed are treated horribly at the academy to try to force their magic out of them and then force them to become part of an army. Some students were able to help each other hide to keep each other safe. Then they all were able to rebel with Peyton and Draven leading the way! I wasn’t sure what to expect next and I can’t wait to read the next book!

I focus my attention on the girl sitting to Sofia’s left. The more
beautiful one. The older-looking one. The more frightened-looking one with
tears pooling in her lower lids.
Dark brown hair cascading over her shoulders and down her arms, the ends
nuzzling against her bare skin like a frightened child clinging to its mother.
Almond-shaped deep-caramel eyes surrounded by lush dark lashes. A few scattered
freckles across the bridge of her perfectly shaped nose. Plump, glossy coral
lips.
In my wildest dreams, my betrothed didn’t grow up to be this beautiful.
And it annoys the hell out of me because I don’t want to be attracted to her.
I want to make her suffer.

Sofia Bellini grips the hand of the girl in question. “Please, Marco.
Swear to me on your honor that my daughter will be safe with you.”
My father chuckles. “Emilia is going to give us babies, heirs to the
