Fatal Harmony by Anne Malcom Review!

Synopsis

I may be the villain of the story, but at least I get a leading role.

Evil is a term thrown around history and literature as if it’s something so easily definable. A concept to fight against.

Evil doesn’t exist.

Neither does ‘good.’

Vampires do, though.

I just happen to be one.

I’ve cruised through the centuries managing to avoid all the wars, supernatural and human, but still going to all the best parties.

I would say I avoided bloodshed, but it’s kind of part of the whole ‘vampire’ thing.

I’ve lived on the fringes of a society that considered cruelty and sadism favorable character traits for almost five hundred years. Now I’m in the middle of a war that might just put my nonbeating heart in a lot of danger.

Battles, I can handle.

The impossible attraction between me and the vampire slayer, not to mention the penetrating gaze of the king of our race, on the other hand?

I might not get out undead.

My thoughts 💭

I enjoyed this wonderfully written story but I thought the cliffhanger was kind of corny. Even though I am all for instalove Isla and Thorne didn’t make sense to me. They only had brief meetings or standoff’s, exchanged a few words and did the nasty once before Thorne started declaring love🤷🏾‍♀️ I enjoyed Isla’s crazy self though she was annoying but she kind of grew on me lol

About K. Webster

K Webster is the author of dozens romance books in many different genres including contemporary romance, historical romance, paranormal romance, and erotic romance. When not spending time with her husband of twelve years and two adorable children, she’s active on social media connecting with her readers.

Her other passions besides writing include reading and graphic design. K can always be found in front of her computer chasing her next idea and taking action. She looks forward to the day when she will see one of her titles on the big screen.

About Ker Dukey

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up.
My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

For The Hope Of A Crow by T. S. Joyce review!

Synopsis

Ramsey Hunt is caught in a spiral no one can save him from, and he’s taking his entire Clan of crow shifters down with him. A broken mating bond has him going insane, and all he can do is try to hold onto his Alpha position as long as possible. But when a spirited beauty comes waltzing into his MC’s clubhouse demanding an audience with him, he can’t help but think he’s dreaming her up. She’s got paperwork saying he’s her mate, and this shifter has one serious stubborn streak in her. All he wants to do is go insane in peace, but she isn’t having it. And now the real work begins. He’s got to sever one mating bond completely if he wants a shot at survival. And if this crazy plan works, he might just have a second shot at happiness too.

Vina wants a crow. She doesn’t care who they are, as long as their shifter animal is a crow. They mate for life and she’s tired of being pushed around by the men she dates. So when a crow comes up on the shifter matchmaking service she applied for three years ago, she has a good feeling her stars are about to change. That is, until she meets Ramsey. The half-crazed Alpha of the biggest, baddest Clan of crow shifters in existence isn’t going to make pairing up easy. And the more Vina gets to know him, the more she thinks it wasn’t him who signed up for a mate after all.

And now Vina has two choices—cut and run from the storm coming for the Red Dead Mayhem Clan, or dig her heels in and rip that old mating bond out of Ramsey. Up until now, no one has appreciated her, but what if…just what if…she could be the one to save the crows?

Content Warning: Explicit love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets. Intended for mature audiences.

My thoughts 💭I loved Ramsey and Vina! They both are crazy and so adorable together! Ramsey is suffering from a rejected mate bond and Vina comes along and makes him and his Crow realize they may have picked wrong. I am loving this series so far!

I am beyond in love with this book. The writing was flawless. The emotions real and gripping. The characters flawed but so lovable. Everything about How We Fall screams five stars. – Julia Red Hatter Book Blog

Finn closed the remaining distance between us, clutching his hands in my hair to pull me closer. Raw heat poured from his body to mine like red-hot, molten lava.
His fingers tightened their grip on my hair, and his tongue drove between my lips, completely devouring me with a fiery, hungry kiss. It was a wild and messy tangle of hands groping, and needy mouths pressing against each other. He kissed me deeper, thrusting his tongue against mine and my lust for him burned and sizzled deep in my core.
“God,” he groaned. “I fucking love your mouth.”
My mind went blank. All I could think about was that I needed more of him. I moaned into the kiss, tasting the sweet scotch that rested on his tongue and lingered on his breath like a drunken aphrodisiac. I kissed him harder, devouring the taste of him like a drunk trying to get the last drop of whiskey from a glass.
There was something primal about him. Something wild just beneath his calm and controlled surface. I wanted him to turn me into something so crazed with lust and uninhibited that I didn’t even recognize myself. I wanted his mouth so tightly against mine that our breathing became one suffocated gasp of air.
Then it hit me. “Oh God,” I groaned, ripping myself out of his embrace. Immediately I covered my face with my hands in shame. “I shouldn’t have done that. Oh shit,” my head shook back and forth. “I can’t believe I just did that. You’re my boss—I—shit. I called a hiatus on men, and then I just attack you?”
“Hailee,” he breathed out, tugging my arm lightly.
“No,” I squeezed my eyes tightly shut, shaking my head back and forth. I let my hands drop from my face, but I still refused to look at him. One palm gripped the handle of the door so I could escape my embarassment. “I’m sorry. Don’t fire me, okay?”

The Suit by Kathryn Nolan review!

Synopsis

It’s not every day that a man with a refined English accent and a three-piece suit wanders into Roxy’s tattoo parlor.

More than a little intoxicated, and fresh from a break-up, Edward is eager for some body art to commemorate the occasion.

But Roxy smells trouble.

She knows his type: conservative, corporate banker. Wealthy snob. Infuriatingly charming.

She’s ready to show him the door.

Edward, however, is fascinated by the sassy shop owner. And her scowling expression – and smart mouth – is infinitely more intriguing than a tattoo.

They’re complete and total opposites. Absolutely nothing in common. Except…

My thoughts 💭This book was hot🔥🔥🔥 the chemistry between Roxy and Edward was crazy! Heartbroken guy gets to have the sex he’s been wanting his whole life after stumbling upon a tatted sex goddess! I loved this quick sexy book I wish there was more!

Cover Reveal: Maverick by Lilly Atlas

Title: Maverick
Series: Hell’s Handlers MC
Author: Lilly Atlas
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: August 14, 2018
Stephanie Little firmly believes the world exists in two states: right and wrong. Good and evil. Unlawful and law-abiding. She chose her side the moment she joined the FBI and pledged to rid the world of as many criminals as possible.

Maverick is everything Stephanie isn’t: inked, pierced, flirty, masculine as sin, but most of all, an outlaw biker. When corruption in Stephanie’s crime-fighting world lands her in the clutches of a dangerous gangster, Maverick is there to keep her sane and battle for her protection.

With Stephanie’s neat existence so turned around she can no longer distinguish the good from the evil, she finds herself thrust into a world so gray she can’t see three feet in front of her face. To survive the confusion, she turns to the only person who keeps her grounded: the sexy outlaw who melts her heart and weakens her knees.

But law enforcement and criminals can never mix. Not in the way her body and heart are begging for. At some point, someone is going to learn her secret, and when that happens her fierce protector could become her greatest enemy.

The world existed in two states: right and wrong.

At least that’s how Stephanie Little had always seen it.

A clear, divisive line separating saints and sinners kept life manageable.

Good and evil.

Truth and lies.

Rule followers and rule breakers.

Criminals and law-abiding citizens.

All the murky gray areas and half-truths were just excuses and loopholes for people who weren’t willing to make the right choices.

After careful consideration, Stephanie always made the right choice or at least she tried to. And if she didn’t, she owned it and faced the consequences of her actions.

The split between right and wrong was what drew her to law enforcement straight out of high-school. Well, that and the fact that she grew up with the police chief for a father.

Born and raised in Pittsburg, she’d hardcore hero worshiped her father through her childhood. He’d received countless commendations for his life-saving work reducing the murder and crime rates in their city.

Stephanie had wanted that. Craved the opportunity to leave that kind of mark on the world. Rid the planet of some darkness and inject good back for those who deserved it. Those who followed the rules and lived in the light.

So, at twenty-one, with a shiny new criminal justice degree, she’d joined the police academy. Dreams of confiscating drugs, saving kidnapped children, and locking up murders powered her to the top of her class.

On the eve of graduation, her father showed up at the apartment she shared with another female cadet. In a matter of twenty minutes, he’d shattered Stephanie’s perfectly compartmentalized world.

“Steppy,” he’d said in the way her younger brother used to say her name. Jake had trouble with the F sound until he was four, but by then the name stuck and she’d been Steppy to her family from then on. “I know you’re excited to graduate and eager to dive into your first position with the PPD, but I need to tell you something important.”

She’d frowned and leaned her head on her father’s broad shoulder. “What’s that, Dad?”

“The world doesn’t always work the way you think it does, Step. You see black and you see white. Well, honey, in the real world, those colors don’t even exist. It’s all a grayscale. You need to know that, really know it, in order to survive the life you chose for yourself. There may be things you’re called on to do that don’t fit neatly into the boxes you’ve created.”

That conversation was the beginning of the end of her relationship with her father. She’d smiled, nodded, and told him what he wanted to hear, but rolled her eyes the moment he left. He was older, nearing retirement, out of touch with the way the world worked.

Such youthful arrogance and ignorance.

But Stephanie managed to hold on to her ideals through her first year on the force. Even when her father lost his position in a shameful bribery scandal that earned him fifteen years in prison, she hadn’t budged.

He’d done the crime, he deserved the time.

Then, somehow, she made it through two years working for the FBI before her perfectly divided world was smashed to bits. And it wasn’t smashed with a sledgehammer either. No, a damn wrecking ball in the form on an undercover assignment crashed through the glass house she lived in, launching millions of sharp shards at her delicate skin.

And it hurt.

God, did it hurt.

“One more chance, bitch. What the fuck are you doin’ here?” some dead-eyed brute asked her about five seconds after his fist connected with her face.

For the second time.

The second punch disoriented her for a second. Long enough to lose her sense of upright and meet the ground.

On all fours, with palms and knees throbbing from the bits of gravel and dirt embedded in the skin, Stephanie spit out blood that had pooled in her mouth from the split lip. “Hiking,” she said, the sound a bit muffled from her swollen lip. “Got lost.”

And…damn…who knew talking with a split lip would hurt so damn much. Tears pooled in her eyes, but she’d rather die than let one of those suckers slip free. She wasn’t the toughest of chicks out there…physically at least. A few arrests during her time as a beat cop had resulted in physical altercations with bumps and bruising. She’d always put on a tough mask in front of her fellow cops but bawled like a baby in the privacy of her own home.

Dead-eyes threw back his head and laughed before looking at his buddy, a guy so overweight, Stephanie was pretty sure she could outrun him even if they broke both her legs. “You believe this bitch, Top?” he asked the larger man.

Top grunted and shook his head, his many chins wobbling like Jello. “Fuck no. No reason for a bitch to be hiking out here, Shark. Ain’t even any fuckin’ trails.”

Like he would know?

Stephanie bit back the smart-assed remark on the tip of her tongue. Silence was her best bet. Plus, this little gangbanger pow-wow gave her a second to reorient and breath through the pain.

“What about you, King? You believe her?” The man called Shark asked the man on his right and Stephanie held her breath.

This was it. Her way out. Sure, there’d be hell to pay later for the rookie-level mistake of getting busted snooping in the woods outside their compound, but she’d take an ass chewing form her boos over being beat to shit or worse by pissed off gang members.

All her partner, Eric, or King to these pieces of shit had to say was that he believed her. Saw her tromping around like an idiot. Spotted her looking lost and stupid in the woods. He could volunteer to drop her somewhere and scare the piss out of her so she wouldn’t talk.

Shark and the Top dude were scary as fuck and she wanted gone in the worst way.

“No I don’t fuckin’ believe this, bitch,” King said, lifting his military grade rifle and stomping forward until the weapon was pressed dead center against her forehead. “I say we just waste her now. Bury her and get back to those bitches we left naked and needy.”

What. The. Fuck.

Stephanie had never worked so hard in her life as she did to keep the shock off her face and the vile words in her mouth.

Calm down.

King wasn’t serious. He couldn’t be. Her partner was a veteran FBI agent for crying out loud. There had to be a plan to get her out bouncing around in his head.

That knowledge helped her relax despite the fact one twitch of King’s finger would splatter her brains all over the Tennessee woods.

“Nah,” Shark said. “Where’s the fun in that? Let’s take her with us. A few hours hanging with the boys and she’ll be ready to talk.”

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

She stared hard into King’s eyes trying to send him a mental message. This was as bad for him as it was for her. They’d torture her for information and she’d crack.

Everyone cracked.

Especially if they had zilch training in enduring torture.

“Who gives a fuck why she’s here? Let me kill her and be fuckin done with it.”

Stephanie was in serious danger of puking all over the forest floor. As she stared at her partner of two years, the partner who taught her everything she knew about working for the FBI, the partner who teased her endlessly for her opinions on the black and white nature of the world, his lips quirked.

And she knew.

There were no fucking shades of gray.

She’d been right all along.

Only black. Only white.

And King had officially been swallowed by the darkness.

He’d always told her working undercover would change her view of the world. That undercover agents often had to live the life of a criminal and learn to deal with living in the shadows for the sake of doing good. But this wasn’t a case of doing what he had to maintain cover. This was a monster who wore human skin for a time and managed to fool even the most skeptical.

“What the fuck did I say, King?” Shark asked. “I want her at the compound. You can kill her eventually, but it’s been a shit week. The boys need some fun first.”

Stephanie swallowed. Boys? Fun?

There weren’t too many ways to interpret that.

The gun fell away from her head and she sat back on her heels.

Why? What was so appealing about this lifestyle that a decorated FBI agent would do a one-eighty and betray everything he once stood for.

Money?

Frustration with the system?

Sticking it to the man?

It seemed too dramatic to be making a point.

The ultimate hissy fit.

“Let’s roll,” Shark said, turning on his heel and strolling toward the building she could see through the trees in the distance.

The fat one leered at her for a second more before waddling after his master like an overfed but well-trained dog.

Somewhat alone with her partner, Stephanie rose to her feet. Whatever was about to happen, it would happen while she was on her knees in front of him. He’d have to look her full in the eye. For one second, she had the insane urge to call out to Shark. To yell as loud as she could and let the scumbag know his precious King was an undercover FBI agent.

It wouldn’t matter if he pledged his loyalty to Shark forever. He’d be killed. That’s how it worked with gangs.

Nothing less than he deserved at that moment.

But she didn’t give into that urge. Because it would be wrong.

And she always chose right.

“Why?” she whispered when Shark was out of earshot.

King grunted and shook his head. “So fucking naïve, Stephanie. You always have been. It’s all gray out here.”

No. She refused to believe it. This situation was clearly not on any gray spectrum. King was evil. Plain and simple.

“No, Eric, I’m not naïve. But you sure are a fucking traitor.”

“You’ll never get it. And you’ll never survive this world. Wake the fuck up,” King said as he thrust his right arm forward and rammed the butt of his rifle into her head.

His murderous expression was the last thing she saw before her vision blacked.

SYNOPSIS REVEAL

A shadow meets the light …

When someone needs to disappear, the Chicago mob calls on Joe Rossi. A man who can move without a sound, and kill without a word, they don’t call him the Shadow for nothing.

This time, it’s a New York crime family in need of his skills, but it takes one glimpse of her to make him agree to the job.

Liliana Marcello is every inch a principessa della mafia. Her life has taught her to be wary of strangers, yet her ballet career contradicts everything by putting her on display.

It’s a man with a dark smile and a constantly changing demeanor that makes her feel safe again, but it’s the unknown that holds her back.

It takes one look …
One dance …
One word …
One smile to captivate a man.

And one second to kill a woman because of it, too.

Not all monsters hide in the shadows.
How are you supposed to see them coming?

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT

Shoving the phone back in her pocket, she headed out of the bathroom, and damn near crashed into what felt like a fucking brick wall the second she left the room.

Liliana couldn’t have caught herself from falling even if she tried. For all her balance, strength, and grace … none of it helped very much when she ran headfirst into something as unexpected as—

“Careful there,” came a dark, rich voice.

Like a bass rumbled with his words.

Like a melody colored up his chuckles.

A strong arm had caught her easily—just one, it seemed he didn’t need two—and righted Liliana to her feet probably before she even realized what had happened. Pushing her wild waves of dark blonde hair back out of her face, she blinked.

And came face to face with him.

The mysterious man from earlier in the driveway.

He was not quite the same as he had been earlier, though. Getting a closer—really up close and personal, considering how she was balancing herself by putting her palms to his chest, and was close enough to feel his warm mint-scented breath wash over her face—look at him was bad for her insides.

Bad, because he was gorgeous. More so than she realized. Bad, because her stomach clenched, and her palms felt sweaty already. For a second, she tried to make her voice work, but nothing came.

The dark lines of the man’s face were shadowed by the hall, but it only added to the appeal of his square-cut jaw, strong cheekbones, and inviting grin. He was taller than her five foot eleven by at least six inches or more. She had to wonder if he played football, or rugby, because under her fingertips, his chiseled-from-stone muscles jumped from her touch.

Jesus.

“You okay?” he asked.

Liliana nodded quickly. “Yeah, sure.”

“It’s Liliana, right?”

She blinked.

He grinned deeper.

Right?” he pressed.

“Liliana, yeah, but if you call me Lily, I’ll probably gut you.”

Might as well get that right out in the open and over with. She expected a bit of surprise in the man’s eyes at her warning, but he actually tipped his head back and laughed. And sweet Christ, that laugh of his was dangerous.

The sound made her breath catch.

The sight made her heart race.

“Good to know,” he said.

Laughter echoed from down the hall—her cousin, sister, and friends voices followed right after. Conversation about the movie they wanted to pick, or something like that. It didn’t really matter.

“Ah, that’s what I was trying to find,” the guy said.

Liliana’s brow dipped. “Pardon?”

“I heard noise, but this place is so big that I couldn’t find out what it was or where it was coming from. I think I got lost.”

She pressed her lips together to keep from smiling. “Well, the mansion is pretty big.”

Liliana had a good mind to ask him what exactly he was doing at her grandparents’ mansion, and why she had caught sight of her father and uncles waiting for him and the other man before she left with the girls. She didn’t ask any of that because if the guy was in any way connected to her father and uncles’ business in the mafia, he probably wouldn’t tell her anyway.

Besides, sometimes it was better not to know.

That’s what life as a Marcello principessa had taught Liliana. It was also pretty quick to teach her that even men who weren’t connected to the life were their own particular brand of dangerous when it came right down to it.

“I bet your friends are wondering where you are,” he said.

It was only then that Liliana realized how close and alone the two were in the dark hallway. Sure, someone might hear her shout if she needed to, but none of that had even factored in to her usual cautiousness.

In fact, the last thing she felt in that moment was unsafe.

“They probably are,” she agreed.

“Would you do me a favor first?”

“Shoot.”

He cocked a brow, and shrugged one large shoulder like it wasn’t a big deal before he said, “Give me directions to the downstairs—I don’t want to miss supper later. I hear that’s rude, and I’m going to be around for a while. I would hate to make a bad first impression and all.”

Liliana laughed, but not for the reason he probably thought. The last thing he did was make a bad first impression.

Far from it.

Gent by Harloe Rae review!

Synopsis

Raven Elliot blasts into town like a wrecking ball—striking and devastating.

With a few simple words, my reliable routine crumbles to dust.

“Is this seat taken?”

I could close my eyes and let her voice wrap around me like a lover’s caress.

But this isn’t that type of story.

And I’m sure as hell not that kind of man.

She hovers in my space, batting her lashes and smiling shyly.

The glimmer in her sapphire eyes is a promise of peace.

But I’m not falling for it.

And Raven doesn’t take the hint.

What starts as a battle of wills, explodes into a turf war.

She stands directly in my path everywhere I turn.

No matter how hard I shove, she won’t budge.

Raven seems dead set on driving me insane.

But I was here first.

And I’m not going down easy.

After all, no one ever taught me how to treat a lady.

My thoughts 💭

Trey is a jerk and Raven is a sweetheart! Raven comes into town and steamrolls her way into Trey’s life. I loved their banter and chemistry! Trey was thinking he wasn’t meant for all the feelings but Raven totally woke him up! This was such a good enemies to lovers romance!
