Synopsis

New town, new school. Same story. I’m Laura, I’ve spent most of my life crisscrossing the county yielding to the whims of my transient mother. We’ve never stayed in one place long enough to call it home, and I don’t have any hope of that changing.

I follow the rules; no drawing attention to myself, no friends, and especially no boys.

But my mom’s been keeping secrets, secrets so profound they threaten to turn my world upside down. I’ve always assumed her paranoia was a symptom of a mental illness, but as her secrets begin to unravel, I realize nothing is what it seems.

As my life careens out of control a group of guys from school promise to give me answers about who I really am. I’m afraid of what I might learn, but more afraid of what I could be giving up if I don’t listen.

My thoughts 💭

This was a nice read. I felt they guys don’t explain stuff very well to Laura so she’s always going on the defense when they say stuff. Laura knows she’s the group’s synergist but they don’t give her the full scope of what that means. She thought it was like a battery but it’s like their mate that also makes them stronger. I really want to know who Mia is and why she’s in the house…I don’t like that lady lol….

Blog Tour/Review: California Love by TK Cherry

Title: California Love
Author: TK Cherry
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Can you claim your future while holding onto the past?

Moping over her ex’s updated relationship status, Quen decides a solo road trip is exactly what she needs. Unfortunately, her hunk of junk car has other plans and leaves her stranded on the side of the interstate.

Steaming from a failed business deal, Drew takes a drive in his classic convertible to cool off when fate lands him directly in Quen’s path. A little polite conversation, mixed with a slathering of flirting, and the sexy billionaire offers her a lift.

What follows is an eclectic adventure that will change their lives forever.

The Stay-Hi Café.
An outdoor junk exhibit.
A strawberry festival.
A “cockroach” motel.
Each stop brings them closer together and leaves both wishing the journey didn’t have to end.

As Quen begins to wonder if a future with Drew is possible, real life bursts in to monopolize his time. And the obstacles don’t stop there. Not one, but two men from Quen’s past swoop in, hell-bent on winning her. Can Quen recapture her magic summer by following her heart back to Drew in California? Or will self-doubt convince her that her heart is safer at home?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved Quen and Drew’s story! Their chemistry was amazing! A chance meeting has Quen and Drew stopping to smell the roses and sightsee. And realize they can’t stand being apart even though it takes a little bit for them to get it together! I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend reading this!

Blog Tour: Tall, Dark & Furious by R.L. Mathewson

Title: Tall, Dark & Furious
Author: R.L. Mathewson
Genre: Paranormal, Romance
Series: A Pyte/Sentinel Novel #6

From bestselling author R.L. Mathewson comes the sixth installment of the Pyte/Sentinel Series…
For readers who enjoy paranormal romance with a twist.
For three centuries, Trace waited for this moment, imagined all the things that he would do to the Pack that tried to kill him, and now that he was free…
All he could think about was the woman that he’d claimed as his own. She was everything that he’d always wanted and once he had his revenge, he would make her his.
Sam had resigned herself to a lot of things over the years, being the town joke, blacking out at inopportune moments, and living with a dog that hated her, but what she hadn’t planned on was suddenly finding five large men destroying her basement, looking for a tomb that she never knew existed. In one moment, her life changed forever, leaving her to wonder how she was going to make it out of this alive.

“I
really hate you,” Samantha informed the traitor that was following
her as she
 tightened
the towel around herself while she tried to ignore the splitting
headache that was starting to concern her. She quickly made her way
to her bedroom and once she was there, she slammed the door shut in
the little bastard’s face only to bite back a groan when she
realized that she wasn’t alone.

“What’s
this?” the man that had barged into the bathroom a total of fifteen
times to make sure that she was doing as she was told before stealing
her clothes, asked from where he sat on her bed, examining her old
iPod.
“It’s
an iPod,” she said, absently noting that he was now wearing a pair
of Nathan’s old jeans and had probably already searched her
brother’s bedroom.
“What
does it do?” he asked, as she walked over to her dresser, wondering
if he’d found anything that she could use to get out of this.
“It
plays music,” she said as she quickly grabbed some clothes, hoping
to get dressed before-
“And
this?” he asked, drawing her attention back to find him holding-
“Oh,
my god!” she gasped as she dropped the clothes in her arms to
rescue Bob before he realized what it was for, but something, mainly
the way that his eyes suddenly turned red and that growl that she
really shouldn’t find sexy was torn from his throat, told her that
he’d just figured it out.
With
a somewhat hysterical smile, she managed to grab Bob from him and
shove it back in the nightstand drawer with the hopes that there
wouldn’t be any follow up questions, but of course with the way
that her day was going, she really should have expected it.
“What
do you use that for, wife?” he asked, making her wince.
“It’s
umm, a sleep aide?” she said absently, wondering if he’d found-
“And
this?” he asked in that same deep sexy growl that let her know that
yes, yes, he had indeed found her pocket rocket.
The
sound of Bob Jr. turning on only confirmed it. Reminding herself that
she needed to tread lightly here, she turned around, and mumbled, “It
helps with the sleep aide,” noting the way that his red eyes
narrowed on her before she quickly turned around as she shut it off
and shoved it in the drawer with Bob. Once that was done, she turned
around and-
“What’s
a call?” he suddenly demanded as he picked up a large black duffle
bag that she hadn’t noticed before and dropped it on her bed.
“A
call?” she repeated back slowly as she did her best to keep her
gaze from wandering towards the cellphone on her nightstand.
“I
need a call,” he said firmly as those terrifying red eyes locked on
her.

Q & A
  1. What is a Pyte?
A Pyte is a true immortal. He
is the product of a vampire and a human woman. Pytes can also have
children of their own day. They’re born as weak as a human baby,
but the difference is that they need to consume blood as well food in
order to thrive. If they don’t, they’re left weaker, will grow
slower to the point that they’ll appear to be younger than they
are.
If they survive to their
sixteenth birthday, they will go into a coma where they’ll go
through their transformation, becoming everything that they were
meant to become and once they’re done, they’re immortal and
nothing will be able to kill them. They’ll appear human but have
all the strengths of a vampire with none of the weaknesses. They can
go in the sun, withstand holy relics, and have the ability to create
another Pyte.
Once they’ve created another
Pyte, they’ll be able to create a stronger breed of vampire, which
is why Masters, shifters, and Sentinels all over the world are
desperate to get their hands on them. Masters want them to create a
stronger army of vampires for them while shifters and Sentinels are
willing to do anything to stop them.
Their immortality should make
them unstoppable, but it’s their one true weakness.
  1. It’s been four years
since Fated was published, what happened?
Life.
Life happened, unfortunately.
In 2015 and 2016, we were dealing with a lot of stuff, a lot of
changes, and thankfully, we were finally able to move. It was a very
necessary move for our safety, so a lot of things were put on hold
for a while. I focused on taking care of the kids, getting them
settled, finally getting my son’s autism diagnosis, which has
actually been a big relief finally getting answers. I did my best to
keep working, I focused on contemporaries since they were the easiest
to write.
When I write paranormal
novels, I like to take my time, make sure the details are correct,
develop the characters a little more so that they are able to make
the world that I’m trying to create more believable. Basically, I
stress over every detail.
I never planned on letting
this much time go by between the books. I actually hadn’t realized
it had until this past year when readers started to ask about the
books. It’s the same for the Cursed Heart series. The books were
supposed to be out a lot sooner than this. My goal for 2020 is to
catch up with the books and get most of the series caught up.
  1. Who is Trace? We haven’t
heard about him in the series before. Is he a new series?
Trace
is new to the series. His father is Ethan, who you met very briefly
in Tall, Dark & Heartless. He is the vampire that Caine contacted
to get information about Pytes so that he could help his mate. Trace
is his son that went missing centuries ago and has never stopped
looking for.
Trace
is a Pyte and brand new to the series as is his mate. With that being
said, Kale plays a very important part in this book and you will get
to see the others as well. Jill and Joshua are in this book as well.
You will get more information in this book, more answers and a better
sense of where the series is heading.
  1. Who
will be next in the series?
Kale’s
book will be next. His book is titled
Unstoppable.
His mate will be the key to the series. I have a lot of plans for
that couple. It’s actually already started and I am looking forward
to getting back to it. I am hoping for a Halloween release, but I
don’t want to jinx myself. At this point, I’m just keeping my
fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
  1. Will
Jill and Joshua ever get their own books?
Yes,
but it won’t be anytime soon. Joshua plays a crucial part in this
series so I need him to do a few things before we can redeem him. As
for Jill, her character has a few more trials to go through before
her story will be ready to be told.

  1. There’s
a rumor going around that there will be a YA series for the Pytes.
    Is that true?
Yes,
there is a Pyte YA series in the works. I have been playing with the
idea for the past few years and trying to narrow it done to what I
want. I’ve been debating a few things and I’m almost ready to
start. I will say this, Marc will not be in this series only because
he will not have his mate until he’s well into his adulthood. The
one thing that I’m truly debating about the YA series is whether it
will be focused on one couple or a new couple for every book. I’ll
know more about where the series is heading once the first book is
done.
  1. What
makes your Pyte/Sentinel series different than the rest?
Well,
for one, the concept of a Pyte is my creation, something that I’ve
been toying with since I was a kid. There are a lot of vampire
romance novels out there, with different takes on what a vampire is,
how they’re created, their weaknesses, etc. and they’re great,
but the Pyte/Sentinel series does it a little bit differently. I’ve
tried to create a world that could easily blend in with ours with
humans completely oblivious to the real world around them.

I’ve
created this world so that even readers who don’t normally like
paranormal romance enjoy these books because I try my best to make
the characters relatable. The Pyte/Sentinel world is not overwhelming
with paranormal aspects filling every page. The books ease readers
into the story and allow them to keep up without having to remember
all the different rules or concepts that make up this world.

Synopsis

Maisy Parker isn’t asking for a lot in life. Just good friends, good fun, and finally reaching one hundred thousand followers on Instagram.

She’s well on her way to all of that, until one drunken dare ends up with a cut hand, blood sacrifices, and a thousand-year-old prison opening to reveal a giant of a man.

Finding herself with a Titan of a problem, she does the only thing that makes sense in that situation: selfie. Because he’s beyond hot, and that has got to be worth twenty thousand followers.

Only it turns out, this is no joke.

Cronus is really a Titan, and he’s set out to destroy the leader of the Greek pantheon.

When Maisy makes a colossal mistake, unleashing an untold evil on the world, Cronus is the only one that can help her.

#oops

Maisy is starting to see that she should have been less interested in Instagram and more interested in the impending end of the world.

An end she quite possibly caused—not that she’s admitting to anything just yet.

My thoughts 💭

This book was interesting! Maisey mistakenly frees a titan from his prison and they’re instantly being attacked. They end up going on the run while Cronus’ powers take time to recharge and it’s a wild journey. Maisey finds out she’s more than she thought and Cronus starts to see her as more than an ant but it takes him a while to admit it. I enjoyed the action and chemistry between the characters. Their banter was hilarious. I can’t wait to find out what’s coming next!

Thankfully, they don’t have to do it alone.

Knowing what’s at stake, Penny and Emery, the magical powerhouses of the mage world, will lend their aid, trying to sneak Charity in the backdoor.

If they are caught, they’ll all be captured or worse. Much worse.

But to make it means Devon will be forced to make a difficult decision that will change his and Charity’s life forever.

You don’t want to miss this epic conclusion to Devon and Charity’s story!

My thoughts 💭

I enjoyed the book but I did dislike that Devon actually listens to the seer. But it was cute when they were reunited. Devon and the pack gets Charity to the protection of her family. Charity finally comes into her own and she’s awesome. Devon tries to do what’s “best” for Charity but she’s not having that and follows the silly alpha. This book was filled with action, secrets and lies that held my interest from beginning to end!

Synopsis

In a cold, empty castle, a young queen is dying.

Weak. Fragile. Disgraced.

But Queen Whitestone is not alone in her final days.

She has her beloved sister.

Until a wicked king rides onto her land.

Arrogant. Insufferable. Demanding.

King Bloodsun has come with an offer…peace in trade for a bride.

He wants the princess.

The fiery king won’t take no for an answer.

He vows to keep the cold queen captive until she gives in to his demands.

A queen bows for no one, though.

Not even when she’s frail and fading away.

She’ll tap into her strength, protecting the only family she has left.

The king is about to learn why they call her the cruel one…

My thoughts 💭

I enjoyed Cold Queen! Elzira’s father told her to trust no one and I didn’t realize how solid that advice to her was until the end. I was expecting it to be one person betraying her but it wasn’t only one! Ryke comes to the cold queen trying to make an alliance to get access to lands and he gets far more than he bargained for. He uncovers that she’s been slowly being poisoned and helps her heal and gets himself a cold queen for his efforts. Their chemistry was amazing and I definitely recommend this well written book!

Synopsis

What did I do when I found out my new boss was my ex from college?

I almost chucked my new career out the window, that’s what.

He broke my trust in college when he broke my heart.

We had a terrible breakup that gave me trust issues for life.

Now I am alone in the big city and rich, sexy Kit’s is the only familiar face in town.

And he seems to be interested in re-lighting the flames of our relationship.

Even though my mind tells me to run away, my heart tells me to stay.

People can change. Right?

Doesn’t everyone deserve a second chance?

Kit is determined to do everything in his power to win me back.

With our past breakup looming large in my mind, it’s not going to be easy.

Will our past and my inability to trust, drive us apart?

My thoughts 💭

This was an okay read for me. It felt like there was barely any interaction between Lisa and Kit. He had cheated on her in college so it would’ve been nice if he’d had to grovel a little bit before it’s skipped ahead to 2 years later then ending. I don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t this. It felt like a summary then a little conversation between the main characters.

EXCLUSIVE REVEAL EXCERPT

He found she was still standing at the far end of the room and Gods … what a sight she was. Wrapped in silk, with fire-red curls that sprung out in every direction, and something haunted in her beautiful face.

A treat, really.

It took every ounce of willpower he had to stay right where he was and not cross the room to go to her. Despite how the last while had been meant to force her into coming to him, it hadn’t been particularly easy or kind for him, either. Not that he’d expected it to be, but he certainly hadn’t thought it would be this hard. For one, because he suspected none of this would end the way he wanted it to. And for two, because he was determined to get his answers tonight.

He couldn’t do that if he were fucking her.

However, it simply confirmed things he believed.

Something was different with them.

She would tell him what it was.

“What would happen,” he started, tilting his head toward the doors that led to the stairs currently kissing the sea with every wave that rushed up to touch the marble. “If I opened those doors?”

Arelle’s gaze darted from his to the rain-drenched glass. “The rain and wind would get in, wouldn’t it?”

“And make a mess.” He chuckled. “But that isn’t what I mean. What would you do?”

“I …” Her pretty bow-shaped lips turned down at the edges. “I don’t understand.”

“If I opened these doors, stepped back, and said go … what would happen?”

Her sharp inhale rattled through the room.

The following silence echoed.

At her sides, the shaking hands she balled into small fists hid the truth of her nerves. Not that it mattered because he had already seen them. He wondered if she might lie again … would she make him chase circles that answered nothing and leave him with more questions?

She surprised him.

Shocking.

She was always doing that.

More so than she should.

“I would go home because it’s the only place I know.”

“And?” he pressed.

Her audible swallow had him taking three steps closer to her. He still had quite a way to go to reach her spot, but this gave him room to still breathe.

“And what?”

The sting in her tone had him grinning. A defense of hers, he’d noticed, just happened to be that she got a little nasty. It meant he was hitting a raw nerve and she wanted him to stop. Except he couldn’t—not on this.

“And what would happen after you went home?” he asked.

Arelle’s jaw worked with the words she tried to hold back, but she still spit them out at him, anyway. Like they were dirt she wanted out of her mouth. A truth she wished she could hide. He saw and heard it all.

“I would be forced into a mating with a man who isn’t mine, and who I cannot be mated to. And when the bond didn’t take like they all know it should—”

“They’ll know the truth,” he interrupted, his tone saying calm.

Although how, he didn’t know.

Her chin quivered. “They’ll know it’s already been done. I’ve already mated.”

“When?”

“Eryx—”

When?”

Rest In Peace
~Malakai~
On the outside, we look normal, like an all-American, Christian family, but behind the walls of this church basement, we are far from it.

My mother says it’s her calling, my father says it’s our blessing, and my sister says it’s fun. I say we’re fucked.

I don’t know if what we’re doing is really what God wants us to do, I just know that the more we do it, the more natural it feels.

Natural.

What we’re doing and the reason behind it is far from natural.
In my family, love blends with hate, duty with torment, and blood with water.

We are the Courtenay Family and this is the story about how it all went wrong.

Rot In Pieces
~Adriel~
Her actions shattered my family, leaving it half alive.
And I hate her for it.

My brother is broken. His torment suffocates him as he claws his way through the aftermath of her decisions. Despite it all, he remains by my side.

The life we knew has been gutted, rotting into a million pieces. We have no home, nowhere to go, but I don’t care because we still have each other. He’s the only one that can see beneath my flesh to touch me in my darkest places.

Our choices have taken us on a new path. A shimmering sea of blood trails behind us on our search for purpose and reason.

No matter what happens, I refuse to let anything or anyone keep us apart.

I’ll burn the world to ash before I’ll let him go.

Synopsis

My ruthless enforcer is broken, dangerous, and determined to claim me…

The first time I meet Stone Ferraro, it’s hate at first sight, and then he kidnaps me. On his mafia boss’s orders, but still…not a great first impression.

The second time I meet him, he calls me a derogatory name, and I knee him in the balls. Not exactly the sweet social worker look I was going for, but hey, it had to be done.

The third time we meet, it’s over my ex-boyfriend’s—his identical twin brother’s—grave, and he shocks me with a mind-melting kiss.

The fourth time we meet, he takes one look at my belly filled with his dead brother’s baby and declares me his.

His to marry, his to take, his in every way.

The Ferraro crime family’s most ruthless enforcer is broken, dangerous, and here to stay.

And our story only gets crazier–and hotter–from there.

My thoughts 💭

Naima and Stone’s story was crazy but good. Naima takes off for a fresh start away from the mob after her ex’s/ baby’s father funeral. Stone decided to check on her and discovered she’s pregnant with his brothers baby and she’s his. He pushes his way into her life while taking care of her and it was weird at first with how closed off he was except for asking her if she needed wifeing every night lol. As both of their problems came to light their relationship got better and I liked their chemistry. They went from marriage of convenience to love and it was sweet. Stone was a provider and protector while Naima was a sweetheart. This was an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to read the next book!
