My thoughts 💭

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The book was well written but it just wasn’t for me. The synopsis drew me in. I’ve read books with cults in them that I’ve enjoyed and was really into but I couldn’t get into this one. I really liked the cover.

•Blog Tour/ ARC Review• Dance Of The Hunter’s Moon by Amanda Lemay!

Even though we’d taken on the rules of “human” society, behind closed doors and in our own environments, we were animals and lived by pack law.

Dance Of The Hunter’s Moon
(Sakana Series Bk #3)

Amanda LeMay

Blurb:

Jules Havarr is a Breeder. For her, it’s a problem. Smaller than other wolves, she grew up feeling inferior to her pack mates. It didn’t help that males tended to avoid her, or looked down on her as though she were unworthy of attention. When a visiting Breeder extends an invitation to breed, Jules accepts his offer, even though it means leaving her home, friends, family, and pack behind.

Breeding at the Moon Dance is an honor she can’t refuse.

That is, until the moment she meets Sorin Campion, and a rare and ancient bond binds them together. She knows it in her heart, feels it deep in her soul. This male is her sakana, and she’s all in.

The only problem? The Breeder whose invitation she recently accepted is Sorin’s twin brother.

Sorin is a dead wolf walking. He’s suffered tragedy and heartbreak that left a lasting reminder of all he’s lost burned into his flesh. He’s lived the past few decades barely existing.

Can the sakana bond he shares with Jules awaken him from his misery, and bring purpose and hope back into his lonely life?

While exploring their love for one another, Sorin and Jules are tested by a dangerous ongoing threat to their pack. A dark and vengeful enemy may tear them, and their new found happiness, apart.

Before Sorin, I’d never had a boyfriend. I’d never been in love. I’d never even been kissed.
If he’d taken the chance to save Aliza, we wouldn’t be spending one second in each other’s arms, enjoying anything as simple as the rain, the far-away flashes of lightning and rumble of intermittent thunder.
Because of our ancient, unbreakable bond, what we shared was more than a simple, physical connection. Making love was more than an act of giving and receiving pleasure. Every touch, every kiss, every smile he gave me, healed something inside of me, and slowly but surely erased every negative thought I’d held so close to my heart that kept me from being all I could be. I’d lived my life convinced I was inferior to the members of my pack, a runt with no purpose or place, and no amount of praise or encouragement from those who loved me could make me believe otherwise.
All that changed the second I met Sorin.
My mate.
My sakana.
My broken warrior.
Through our connection, I knew I wasn’t the only one healing. The pain he had lived through for so long was something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
I made him smile. I made him laugh. I made him want to live again.
More than anything, whatever I gave to him that helped heal his broken heart, he gave back to me, and so much more.
I loved this male. I loved him so deeply, so purely, if something happened to him, if he were to die…I wouldn’t be as strong. The pain of losing him would kill me.
“Sorin…” Warm tears trickled down my face as he turned to pull me into his arms.
He whispered against my lips, “You’re tearing my heart out, beautiful.”
He kissed me, slowly at first with soft, full lips, then deeply, with long, dragging sweeps of his tongue against mine.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and held on as his mouth moved from my lips to my neck, trailing kisses all the way to my mating mark.
“Love you, Juliana. Love you so much.”
Instead of replying, a strangled sob burst from my lungs and I buried my face in his shoulder.
His teeth grazed my skin. “I think it’s time I take you back to bed.”
Sniffling, I nodded. “Yes, it is.”

Surrounded by the rest of the pack as we waited for word from our Alpha, their heightened emotional state was almost overwhelming. With their anxiety battering at me from all angles, it made it difficult for me to deal with what was going on in my own head. The fear and apprehension the pack put off as a collective seemed to fill the air with a strange, bitter taste. It pressed against my skin, soaked through my pores, and rose up in the back of my throat like a sour tang I couldn’t wash away.
Standing in the hall, waiting for my mate, away from the others, I was finally able to catch my breath.
Sorin was on his way. He’d shut his emotions down. And that was okay. I might not have been able to share his emotions, but I felt his power…energy…whatever…and it lifted me, relieved the uncomfortable weight of feeling everything.
It had to be an Alpha thing—another effect of Sorin’s choice that threw me off balance.
The low, whining sound of a car engine came up the road, and with it came Hemming’s Alpha presence. Tipping my head to the side, I listened as the tires sloshed through the mud until it pulled up right next to the door Sorin, Taber, and I had entered through only two nights ago. Car doors opened and closed. Quiet voices murmured. The alarm pad at the inside of the door beeped as someone punched in the security code from the outside. The lock disengaged, then the door swung outward.
Cassia came in, her head bowed, her mother’s arm firmly around her shoulders as she led her shuffling daughter through the hall. I didn’t want to feel what came off Cassia, but knowing she’d been forced to witness what had been done to her friend, I was compelled to open up and focus on her anyway.
I flinched away at what hit me: guilt. Crushing, numbing, guilt.
Of course, she would grieve that way—she’d survived. Whether she carried physical wounds or not, the worst wounds of all were hidden inside, along with a thousand and one different forms of the question why.
I could relate to that. I’d watched my father fight for his life and die before my eyes. And even though no one held me down and made me watch, I didn’t look away.
Still…challenges were part of our culture.
Revenge murders were not.
And that was what Rina’s murder was—retaliation for her taking out one of their brothers. Why they didn’t kill Cassia, we might never know.
I took in a breath and sighed as Hemming came in from out of the darkness, Neeru at his side, both shifting to their human forms just inside the doorway. Seff’s shaggy brown wolf trotted through next, three other wolves behind him, all moving directly to their left and into the showers. No one spoke as they flipped the water on to rinse the mud from their arms and legs.
I pushed away from the wall. My gaze never left the door as I waited for my mate to appear. He was right there—outside the door—pacing.
Hemming’s muddy hand touched my forearm as he passed. “You and Sorin got fifteen minutes. Then I need you both in the dining room.”
I nodded.
Fifteen minutes? Fifteen minutes for what?
On silent paws, Sorin appeared. He slipped through the door and it closed quietly behind him. His big head swung around; his eyes landed on me. A dark brown mask framed his copper eyes and came to a point at the tip of his nose. The brown fur blended into buckwheat honey, the same shade as the hair on his head, as it traveled over his back to the tip of his tail. White belly, legs, lips, and jaws made up the rest of his fur, though, currently, most of his fur was splattered with mud.
Damn, my mate was enormous.
Thick legs, thick shoulders, thick mane around his neck. I wanted to fall to my knees and hug him like crazy, clamp my arms around him and never let go. The wolf in me wanted to roll around on the floor, lick him all over and submit to anything he needed, even if what he needed was to vent his anger by drawing blood. A shiver raced down my spine at the thought of his fangs piercing my flesh. Not that I was afraid. I was so far from fearing anything Sorin might ever do to me.
His head cocked to the side as he sniffed the air, then looked down the hall past me to Taber, and nodded.
“Seff,” Taber shouted. “Let’s go.”
“Just finishin’ up,” Seff called back.
The sound of running water splashing against bodies and wooden slats shut off abruptly, leaving only a quiet drip-drip-drip. Three males emerged, towels wrapped around their waists. Seff appeared from around the corner, tucking the ends of his towel in as he looked at Sorin. He paused for a second while he and Sorin locked eyes and held one of those silent convos for a second or two, before giving a short nod of his head. Seff’s brown eyes moved to me. His lips parted as if he were about to say something, but he didn’t. He didn’t smile, either. Without a word, he clenched his jaw and stared at the floor. I watched as he walked past me. Then he and Taber left the hall.
What the rogues had done to Rina, he’d seen it, but kept the lid on his own emotions nearly as well as Sorin did. I listened as the almost silent footsteps took them out of the room beyond, leaving me and Sorin alone.
Around the corner from where I stood, water came on. I moved into the hall of showers. Sorin stood there, the water raining down on his naked, human body. He’d braced his hands on the wall in front of him, his head bowed deep between his shoulder blades. I set his sweats on top of a stack of clean towels and took a step toward him.
“Sorin—”
“C’mere.”
I didn’t walk.
I ran.
I slammed my little body into his wall of muscle. His arms wrapped around me and pulled me under the hot shower as his mouth claimed mine. Soft lips and warm tongue and I couldn’t care less that I was getting soaked. I smoothed my hands up and down his back, feeling his muscles ripple beneath my fingertips.
He whispered against my lips as he grabbed the hem of my T-shirt and yanked it up over my head. “Need you. Need you now.”
My Thoughts 💭
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my first book by the author and I enjoyed it! Jules felt inferior to her pack mates and Sorin was contemplating death. When Jules catches Sorin’s sent it’s instant attraction! Sorin tried to fight it for a while but he had help from his brother to kick his butt into gear. I loved Jules and Sorin, their chemistry was hot! I thought the story was well written, I liked the drama, love and secrets! The book had a lot of likable characters, I’d like to read more of the series for their stories!

Island Girl Romance Reads – “Lilly Atlas is quickly becoming one of my favorite MC author! Her books are amazing.”

MJ’s Book Blog and Reviews – “Another highly enjoyable read from Lilly Atlas and I give Jigsaw 5 stars.”

Beyond the Covers Blog – “This author has such an amazing gift at making you feel like you were there in that book and I can’t wait to see where she take Copper’s book.”

A full five minutes early for his appointment, Jigsaw shouldered through the door into Inked, the one and only tattoo shop in Townsend, Tennessee. But even if it wasn’t the lone ink provider, even if there was a tattoo shop on every corner, it’d be the only one to receive his business. Inked was the best, by far. Rip was a master with a tattoo machine and could bring anyone’s vision to life.

Maverick and Rocket filed in after him, immediately taking seats on the ratty couch butted up against the display window. His brothers had tagged along despite knowing how much Jig hated an audience for this.

Every year on his wife and child’s birthdays, which just happened to be only three days apart, Jig added to a tattoo on his thigh. Without fail, it put him in a shitty mood, and his brothers damn well knew it. But they couldn’t just leave him the fuck alone. They had to stick their fucking noses in his shit and follow him, so he didn’t “do something stupid.”

Every damn year.

Assholes.

“Hey, Jig,” Rip called out. “Lemme talk to you for a second.” He stepped from behind the privacy curtain pulled around his customer. To say the shop was simple would be a ridiculous understatement. Inked was about as no-frills as it came, with two tattoo stations, a reception desk, a second-hand couch, and a few sketches on the wall. Rip didn’t give a shit about the décor or ambiance. He gave damn good ink and had the reputation to prove it.

“What’s up, Rip?” Jig asked after Rip waddled his large frame cross the shop.

“Hey, I’m running about forty-five minutes behind, man. I’m sorry.” Rip gave Jig a sheepish half smile.

From the couch, Maverick laughed and rubbed his hands together. “Woohoo, does this mean Jig gets to have his face inked on you?”

Not one to find much shit funny, Jig snorted. Rip was a bit of a psycho when it came to lateness. Threatened to tattoo his face on a client if they were late to their appointment. He’d done it before, too, the bastard. That was the reason Jig never let himself be later than five minutes early. Last thing he needed was Rip’s ugly mug on his ass cheek.

“I really am sorry, man,” Rip said. He ran a hand through his receding gray hair and shifted uncomfortably, seemingly flustered, which wasn’t him.

“Everything good?” Jig asked.

Rip lowered his voice. “Yeah, just had this broad come in crying a few minutes ago. Breast cancer survivor who recently had some reconstructive surgery. Wanted me to ink nipples on her. Someone recommended me specifically, and she’s unwilling to go to anyone else.”

“Well, fuck me, Rip,” Mav said. “Why didn’t you start with that? Now I feel like an ass for ragging on you.”

With a shrug, Rip swiped the back of his hand across his forehead. “Shit, I’m sweating, guys. This is a lot of pressure.”

This time, Jig let out a small laugh. “You did all our Hell’s Handlers back pieces without blinking an eye, and you’re afraid of some nipples?”

“It’s a big deal,” Rip grumbled.

Jig slapped him on the back. “Hey, man, no worries. I can reschedule.” In reality, the change to his schedule pissed him off, but what the fuck could he do? He wasn’t about to be the asshole who pulled Rip away from a cancer survivor. Jig might be an unfeeling bastard, but he wasn’t a robot.

“Nah, not necessary,” Rip said as he walked toward the desk. “I got someone else who can do it.”

Jig froze and scanned the shop. It was then he realized there was a curtain pulled around the second chair as well. Muffled voices could be heard from behind the fabric wall but not well enough to make out what was being said. “You telling me you actually hired some help?”

For the past two years, Rip had been saying he needed to hire a second artist. Ever the control freak, no one actually thought he’d let another professional into his shop. He found fault with every other artist out there.

“Yeah, I did. They’re just finishing up the aftercare convo. Then you can meet ’em.”

“I don’t know.” Jig frowned. No one but Rip had gone near his skin with ink and needle.

“They’re good, Jig. Wouldn’ta hired ’em otherwise. Trained ’em myself actually. About ten years ago, right before I moved to the area and opened up shop. Take a look at some of their work.” He dug around behind his desk and pulled out a beat-up binder, laying it out on the counter.

Like a bunch of teenage chicks who didn’t want to miss out on the gossip, Mav and Rocket hopped up to join him at the reception desk.

Mav, who had more inked skin than not, whistled. “Shit, Rip. These are fucking amazing. This guy might do better work than you.”

It was meant as a joke, but Rip snorted and nodded. There was definite truth to Maverick’s words. The lines were so precise, the images so vivid and perfect, it was hard to believe they were done by a human hand. One of the photos was a butterfly that looked like it was literally lifting off some chick’s shoulder. Amazing.

“Give ’em a shot,” Rip said. “Promise they’ll do you right.”

Jig sighed and rubbed a hand across his jaw. Time to trim his beard. He’d gotten lazy the past few weeks and had let the growth get a little out of control. He always kept some amount of facial hair because it covered the bottom third of his scar, but he tried to keep it neat. Most of the time. “All right, man. Let’s do it.”

Seemed like Rip was really trying to push the new guy. Probably wanted to build up his clientele. If the work in his portfolio was an accurate reflection of the guy’s skill, he’d be a fool to turn down this artist. He could help a friend out and get some quality ink in the process.

“Great.” Rip’s yellow-toothed smile beamed. “Oh, here she comes now.”

“Wait, what?”

She?

Maverick coughed in a weak attempt to cover his laughter, but it quickly turned to a gasp.

Oh, yeah,” he said under his breath. “That one’ll do you right, Jig.”

“Holy fuck,” Rocket whispered.

Rip wore a shit-eating grin, the fuckstick. He’d purposefully misled them into thinking it was a dude. Jig didn’t want some bitch getting anywhere near him with a needle. He flipped his brothers off and spun to check out this lady tattoo artist for himself.

Ho-ly shiit.

About five-feet-eight inches—and that was without the four-inch stilettos—of pure sex and sin strutted her way straight toward him. Somehow, this woman had poured herself into the tightest black leather pants he’d ever seen. They molded around her long, shapely legs and, damn, if he didn’t wish for her to turn around. He just bet she had a stellar ass that would only be enhanced by the grip of soft leather.

With each step, the side to side sway of her hips drew his eye like he was watching the pendulum of a clock swing back and forth. Forcing his gaze from her hips, he trailed it upward, not oblivious to the tight black tank top that cupped her breasts as snugly as the leather cupped her thighs.

“Hey, boys,” she said, her voice on the lower side. Husky, he’d call it.

Mav whistled. “Damn, woman. And I say this in a totally non-creepy, non-flirting way because I have a woman that would shoot off my junk if I so much as hit on another chick, but you are some kinda fucking gorgeous.”

Jig ground his teeth together as the new lady tattoo artist threw her head back and let out a throaty laugh. Fucking Maverick. Flirting and charming women was just part of his DNA. He truly meant it when he said he wasn’t hitting on her. The man just couldn’t let a beautiful woman walk away without her knowing she was gorgeous.

“Aren’t you the charmer,” she said, placing her hands on those fantastic hips.

Damn, her body was out of this world. Not skinny, not even too curvy, it was more…athletic. Sleek lines with swells of muscle in her arms and a flat stomach. The girl must spend some serious hours in the gym.

“Guys, this here is Isabella. I taught her everything she knew about ten years ago. She finally agreed to move here and work with me.” Rip beamed with pride as he introduced his protégé.

“Please,” she said, “call me Izzy. One of you boys looking for some ink?”

Fuck no.

Wasn’t happening.

Rocket cleared his throat like he had a whole steak lodged in there. If the asshole wasn’t careful, he’d have Jig’s fist lodged down there instead.

A hand slapped down on his shoulder. “My man Jig here needs some ink.”

Fuckin’ Maverick.

“Don’t want to mess up your schedule,” Jig said. “I’ll come back when Rip can fit me in.”

Rip’s face fell, making Jig feel like scum. Wasn’t the shop owner’s fault that Jig wanted nothing to do with most women. Unless he was fucking them. That was pretty much the only time he associated with them. Of course, his brothers’ ol’ ladies couldn’t seem to leave his ass alone. Always trying to bring him food, fix him up, and acting like freaking mother hens around him.

Especially Mav’s woman, Stephanie. He’d helped rescue her from a fucking psycho not long ago, so now he’d become her special project.

“Oh, I’ll, uh, check my book.” Rip waddled behind his desk and flipped through his old-school appointment book.

Izzy’s dark, almost black eyes just stared at him, hands on her hips, earning her Jig’s scowl. Who the hell did this bitch think she was?

Instead of caving under his murderous glare, one of her perfect black eyebrows arched high into her forehead. “You afraid your dick will invert if a woman puts some ink on you?”

She had a set of balls, he’d give her that much. “Nah, I—”

“I’ve inked hundreds, actually thousands of dudes.” She gasped and covered her mouth with her unpolished fingertips. “Shit, I’ve even tatted some bikers.”

Behind him, Mav and Rocket chuckled. Fuckers were enjoying this way too much.

Izzy leaned closer and dropped her volume. “Promise you, bubba, not one of those guys grew a pussy because I was the one holding the needle.”

A strangled sound came from Rocket, and Maverick flat-out laughed. Rip joined in, and soon the three of them were cackling like a bunch of fucking hyenas.

Goddamnit. Not only had she interrupted him, sassed him, and tossed attitude at him, she’d thrown down a challenge. His damned male pride left him no choice.

“Show me to your chair,” he grumbled.

A massive grin of victory broke out across her gorgeous face. “Follow me, bubba,” she said as she spun on one of those pencil-thin heels then sashayed to her station.

And fuck if he didn’t feel a twitch of his dick and a twitch of his lips. Where his cock’s interest came from, he had no idea. Miss Izzy couldn’t be further from his usual type.

He liked ’em blonde, blue-eyed, small, sweet, and docile. Not tall, dark-haired, and mouthy. She’d even shaved the sides of her head, adding to her badass-bitch look.

But as he watched the very long tail of a tight braid swinging back and forth across the top of what was, without a doubt, a stellar ass, he couldn’t deny his animal attraction to her.

Fuck. This was gonna be a shitty few hours.

Slaughter by Shantel Tessier!

Title: Slaughter
Author: Shantel Tessier
Genre: Romantic Suspense/Dark Romance
Release Date: October 26, 2018
Blurb
My name is Avery Decker, and my story isn’t for the faint of
heart. It is about revenge and hatred, misery and violence. I wasn’t always
this way even though it was in my blood. I grew up happy and in love with my
best friend until she betrayed me and walked away. After that, I fell into the
deep, dark world I was meant for.
Presleigh Clarke’s actions turned me into the ruthless man I am today. Too bad
for her, I believe people should pay for the things they have done. The more
painful and messy, the better. I get off on making people bleed. It feeds my
inner demon, and right now, he is starving. She crossed me once, so now she’ll
know what it’s like to fear me. But not all stories end the way you think they
will … mine certainly didn’t.

My Thoughts 💭
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you enjoy dark and twisted books with some mind f**ks I recommend this one! While I did enjoy reading Avery and Presleigh’s story, I felt like the sl*t/wh*re shaming was over the top sometimes. Overall, the story was well written and I couldn’t stop reading!

Big blue eyes stare into mine with a look of terror. Good, she recognizes me. Even in her drunken state, and eleven years later, she still knows who I am.

Her pink lips part, inhaling sharply. Her entire body goes rigid. I take a step toward her as she pulls me in just as she always did. I never could control myself with her. But this time has to be different. I have to be in total control of myself and of her.

She doesn’t move.

She doesn’t blink.

She doesn’t breathe.

Deciding to close the gap completely, I take two more steps until my body is close enough to feel the heat radiating from hers. Her long, dark hair drapes over one shoulder, and it looks good on her. She loved when I used to run my hands through her short hair and play with it. Now I just want to wrap it around my fists and force her to her knees. We never did fuck. We made love—always soft and slow. Now when I picture us in bed together, she is bound and gagged. That way, she won’t be able to stop all the sadistic shit that comes to mind.

I’ve become one of those men I swore to never be! All because of her.

I want her to beg me.

I want her to bleed for me.

I want her to love me.

But I’m not stupid. None of those things will come willingly. I’m gonna have to take them. And I have no problem with that. She made me who I am today, after all.

She continues to stand there like a deer in headlights. I give her a threatening smile but reach out to tuck her hair behind her ear in an innocent gesture when what I really wanna do is slap that look of surprise off her face.

Her body physically shakes.

“Hello, Bunny. Miss me?”

-Book Tour/Review- The Necromancer’s Bride by Brianna Hale!

Title: The Necromancer’s Bride
Author: Brianna Hale
Genre: Dark Fantasy Romance
Release Date:

When I was a child he brought me back from the brink of death. Since that day I have borne his mark, a black star in the center of my left palm. The villagers say it brands me as evil. I think it means something far worse. It marks me as his.

The disease that nearly killed me has returned to the village and children are dying. I’m the only one who dares to climb the mountain and learn his secrets. In exchange I’m to clean his house and help with his strange experiments, but Meremon wants more. He wants me. And it isn’t long before I discover that his demands are as twisted as his experiments.
Warning: This story is a dark fantasy romance with scenes of non-consent and dubious consent. Additionally, Meremon is a necromancer and enjoys unusual things. Some sex scenes might be strange or creepy for some readers.

As always with Brianna Hale books, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily ever after. THE NECROMANCER’S BRIDE is a novella of 16,000 words.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a short, good and creepy Halloween time book. Rhona has been shunned ever since the Necromancer saved her as a child and she ended up with his mark. She ends up going to him to help the kids in her village and he’s pleased his bride came to him. Meremon was actually kind of sweet! He just wanted his bride to be happy and satisfied. I thought it was a well written dark romance. I just wish it would’ve been longer!

There’s nothing Brianna Hale likes more than a large, stern alpha male with a super-protective and caring streak, and when she’s not writing about them she can usually be found with a book, a cocktail, planning her next trip to a beautiful location or attending the theatre. She believes that pink and empowerment aren’t mutually exclusive, and everyday adventures are possible. Brianna lives in London.

The rest of the werewolf pack might consider Aric Connor to be omniscient and destined to save the world when evil returns to claim it. But for the most part, fifteen-year-old Aric ignores the confirmations of his powers, taking everything in stride until he meets her.

Celia Wird wasn’t supposed to awaken naked in the mountains of Colorado, not when she was just stalking her prey in a filthy alley several states away. She especially wasn’t supposed to meet Aric, the handsome werewolf who comes to her aid.

As a supernatural tasked with protecting the earth, Aric sympathizes with Celia’s dangerous situation. He’s also struck by her beauty and kindness. Yet, as much as Aric welcomes Celia, her arrival isn’t a peaceful one.

Dark forces stir in Celia’s presence, resolute on killing her. Aric and his inner beast are adamant about keeping Celia safe and with them. But there’s a time and a place for love, and Aric and Celia might not survive long enough to find it.
