My Thoughts 💭

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was an intriguing and dark read. Pierce and Willow were perfect for each other. Their crazy played very well together. This was an enjoyable read. The suspense, secrets and hot scenes had me hooked! I definitely recommend reading this thriller!

Natalie Bennett is the creator of erotic stories that always come with a warning label. She writes about depraved alpha a**holes and women that love to hate them. Her books don’t follow any specific tropes, have no set word counts, and tend to deviate from traditional HEA’s.

When she isn’t in front of her computer she’s spending time with her husband and their three little boys.

Natalie is an avid fan of caramel frappes, horror movies, Shameless, and of course, reading.

Review: Destined For The Lycan King by Marcelle Sixx

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Length:61 pages

Published: August 2, 2019

Source: Kindle Unlimited

Synopsis

Quisha has always been an inner city kind of girl. All she wanted was her mother’s approval and to finish college so that she could go off and enjoy her life. That is of course before running into a salt and pepper-haired middle-aged man with eyes like warm honey, a demeanor of a king, and money that could make anyone else she thought was wealthy tuck their wallets in shame.

Josiah lost his wife nearly twenty years before meeting this chocolate enchantress, and something happens to him. Something that makes him quiver inside and want to do more than call out to her. However, with his responsibilities as King of Lycanthropes, trying to get close to a young woman that’s beneath him won’t be easy. His erotic dreams and valet deem it possible for Quisha to be his. With a sporadic son, deceit within the empire, and his own guilty conscience getting the better of him, obtaining Quisha to make her his queen seems impossible.

My Thoughts 💭

This was an okay read for me. The main characters chemistry was odd for me. The drama unfolding before the cliffhanger was interesting.

I’m not too sure I would read the next book…I don’t want to say the story didn’t flow well but it had its moments where I wasn’t sure I’d finish the book.

Excerpt:

“Need some help?”

I’m on my tiptoes when the question comes, trying to reach a book on the top shelf in the bookstore at the student center.

My heart does a nosedive off a cliff as that familiar gruff voice washes over me, his accent a smooth drawl that’s reminiscent of hot summer nights and slow kisses—kisses we never had…well, except for that one time freshman year.

I ignore him and try to grab the book.

“You’re too short. Let me,” Blaze says, this time closer, his voice soft.

I ease back on my feet and whip around, internally wishing I’d worn something more I hate you and don’t you wish you still had me, but sadly, I’m not in my kickass shoes and itchy dress. Today it’s flat-soled red Converse, black joggers, and a Yankees sweatshirt. I blow at a piece of hair in my face. Shit.

Of course, he looks magnificent in a tight long-sleeved black shirt that clings to his broad chest and tapered jeans molded to those leg muscles. His face is unshaven, the darkness on his jawline adding a broody look.

Curse him and his hotness.

I stare at him a little too long, until I snap out of it.

“I don’t need help,” My voice is strangled as I move to brush past him—forget the textbooks—but he reaches out and takes my elbow.

“Charisma—”

His fingers are a hot brand on my skin—it’s the first time we’ve touched in three months—and I pull away. A tremble starts in my legs. How dare he?It was one thing to see him in a social setting and pretend I was fine, but when we’re face to face without people watching… “Don’t put your hands on me. I’m not your hookup anymore, football player.”

His face reddens, and he drops his arms. “I didn’t mean—” he stops, not finishing as he studies my face.

I wonder what he sees. You know what he sees, Charisma—someone who wasn’t up to his usual standards.

Everything I didn’t say last night rushes out. “Didn’t mean to what? Dump me in the middle of my own sorority’s party in front of all my friends and half of campus? And you know, that’s totally fine. We both knew I wasn’t enough to keep your attention.”

His jaw clenches and he frowns, his brow furrowing. “I didn’t plan for things to happen that way.”

“How did you want to break up with me? Over candlelight? A text would have worked just fine,” I bite out.

The silence builds between us, and he watches me intently, as if trying to figure me out. He starts at my hair and works his way down to my feet, then comes back to my face. Just when I think I might combust from the intensity of his eyes, he looks away.

“What?” I cock my hip. “You look like you want to say something.”

He taps his hand against his leg. Ice-blue eyes, ones I used to stare into and get butterflies from, glitter down at me. “You just can’t handle that ended things, sweetheart.”

“Not your sweetheart.”

“Never were.”

Shit…shit…my heart feels like an anvil just landed on it, heavy and hard, and I can’t breathe for a second at his words, part of me pissed, the other part devastated. I wanted to be his sweetheart, I did, but he…

You’re not my type.

“Thanks for the reminder,” I say quietly, my anger folding away piece by piece and slipping into that horrible self-pity I despise.

He closes his eyes and scrubs his face with those talented hands, strong and big and capable, skillful with a football.

He steps in front of me, much like he did last night, and I tilt my head back to take him in. At my height of five feet, three inches, it’s hard to glare at a guy who towers over you and not look ridiculous, but I manage—until his eyes flicker with lingering emotion.

I dart my eyes around the store, searching for a way out, but I’m stuck between him and a bookshelf. “You’re blocking my path.” I focus on his legs. No sexiness there—well, except for the tight muscles under that denim.

“This is what I know,” he says in a low voice, ignoring my statement. “You told me we were just messing around. You set all the rules. Isn’t that how you operate? So why does me ending things with you even matter?”

“You never asked for more. You could have.” The revealing words fall around us, tinged with hurt, and I want to pull them back.

The silence between us crackles, yet I’m aware of other people around us. There are a few girls on another aisle, and I glance over as one of them pulls out her phone. No doubt she’s taking a picture of him. Part of me retreats, anxious she’ll get me in that photo—a girl who clearly doesn’t belong. He doesn’t notice. Everyone knows who he is, and they’re probably wondering why he’s talking to me.

“No, I didn’t,” he finally says, the words taut as if pulled from him unwillingly. He taps his leg, his tell that he’s anxious or angry. We weren’t together long, but every moment we spent together, I studied him like a wine connoisseur given a glass of rare cabernet. I know what makes him laugh, usually random things that make no sense. I know that groan he makes deep in this throat when he slides inside me, like he’s home. I know the feel of his hand when he cups my face and stares at me, a hesitant expression on his face—

“You can’t even look at me anymore. I wonder why,” he says, his voice a challenge.

Steeling myself, I face those baby blues. “You know why. I wish we’d never met up last fall. I wish you’d never flirted with me. I wish I’d never fucked you that first time in the library—”

“Same page. Same fucking page, Charisma.” And then he’s walking away, broad shoulders swaying as he stalks down the aisle…

My Thoughts 💭

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a really good prequel! I was immediately sucked into this dark story. The secrets and drama left me wanting to read more! What did Bianca do and why???? I need answers! I can’t wait to read the next book!

Excerpt
Knock… knock knock… knock.

The playful
patterned echoed throughout my room.
The
man doesn’t seem like a monster.
I took a step closer to the door. Or a demon. I took another step. Or anything unholy. The space between
myself and the door no longer existed.
My eyes dropped
to the wiggling door handle. The man said something in Spanish—I think—when the
door wouldn’t open.
“It’s locked…” My
voice was tiny.
“Hello?” The
mystery man’s voice was thick and full of another world outside of the mansion,
New York, or America.
“Hi.”

Silence filled
the void between us until he cleared his throat. “You can open the door. I
don’t bite.” His voice was cunning as if he had a smile on his face. Or at
least, I hoped.
I laughed
nervously. “No, I can’t. But you can.”
“What?” He was
confused until he noticed the three locks on his side of the door.
Click. He unlocked the first. “Why… why
are you locked inside?” he questioned, his words close to one another.
“Because unlike
you, I bite,” I joked. Probably not the best time, but he laughed. A sound so
rich and thrilling it made my head rush.
This man didn’t
sound dangerous, not even the slightest.
Click.

My stomach
plummeted to the ground.
“What’s your
name, gorgeous?” he asked before turning the last lock.
My cheeks
crimsoned, and I introduce myself. “Bianca.”
“Beautiful name.”

I nodded wildly,
and I took a step back, preparing for him to open the door. “What’s yours?”
“Antonio. Why are
you locked inside?” he asked again, this time hoping for a straight answer.
“I’m sick,” I
confessed, playing with the drawstring of my baby pink plaid pajama pants which
were far too large for me even in the smallest size they came in. “But it’s not
contagious,” I reassured.
“I’m drunk,” he
confessed. “And it’s contagious… when you have a bottle.”
I smiled so hard
I thought my face was going to split in two. No wonder his words were a little
put together.
“Are you going to
open the door?”
He let out a
long, heavy sigh I wished so badly I could feel against my face.
“I shouldn’t,
shouldn’t I, Bianca?”
My heart skipped.

“Say it again,” I
begged.
“What?” He
chuckled uneasily.
“My name. Say my
name again.” It came out bratty.
Antonio said
nothing.
“Sorry, sorry. I
guess that was weird. Sorry.” I cringed at my behavior.
That’s what I got
for my little to no people skills. I never thought before I spoke or acted. I
took another step back from the door, from the man behind it, feeling like we
needed space. Because apparently, the door between us wasn’t enough.
“No, it wasn’t… Bianca.” He spoke my name like it was
made for his lips, leaving my cheeks rosy and red.
I bit the tip of
my tongue and glared at the doorknob.
Just one more click, I thought.

“Why are you
locked inside?” Antonio asked, again.
I was going to
give him the same answer as before until I thought about the question.
“Because I try to
escape.”
“Escape?”

I nodded,
forgetting he couldn’t see me. “I try to leave my room. A lot.”
“Why?”

“Because I
shouldn’t be caged, but I have to be.”
Antonio hummed,
“Where do you escape?”
“The library.
It’s the blue door, in front of the stairs.”
“So, if I were to
open the door, you would try to run?”
I let out one
single nervous giggle, “I won’t get far.”
Antonio unleashed
a soulful laugh I immediately recorded in my head for one of my bad days when I
needed a pick me up.
“So, you would
try to escape,” he said while laughing.
Not if you come inside.

“Are you going to
unlock the door?” I asked again, impatiently.
“Nothing good
comes from anything that’s locked,” he hesitated, contemplating his decision to
be here.
The truth was, he
shouldn’t have been here. I should’ve told him to leave, but I was selfish and
wanted the faceless man behind the locked door.
“Dangerous things
lie behind locked doors and cages, Bianca,” his tone, dark.
I heard Antonio
take a step back, and I quickly moved forward. I didn’t want him to leave. I
wanted the last
click, the turn of
the handle, and the eyes of a man my father claimed to be evil.
“That’s not
true.”
“Oh, really?”

“Our hearts are
behind a cage. Does that make them dangerous?”
If it was
possible to hear a smirk, I heard it.
“Like you
wouldn’t believe. The heart is the most dangerous part of a human, Bianca.” He
took another step back. “
Talvez você seja
ingênuo e jovem demais para entender.
That wasn’t
Spanish.
“What language
was that?”
“Portuguese. I’m
Brazilian.”
“What did you
say?”
Perhaps you’re too naive and too young to
understand.
His words hit me,
hard. I was too much of everything that proved I’d grown up in a cage.
Too naive and
wise.
Too young and
dying.
Too caged and
lost.
“I’m not
dangerous, Antonio. I promise you.”

Review: Omega Academy by Lily Archer!

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Length: 338 pages

Source: Kindle Unlimited

Release Date: July 31, 2019

Synopsis

Drawing, my online clan, and planning my escape from my mother–these are priorities. Or, at least they were, until three huge alien males came to abduct me and take me to their planet. But it’s not just a simple process of probing and then releasing me back to Earth. All those movies are lies. These three males keep me. And I’m suddenly a cadet at an Omega Academy where I’m supposed to learn how to serve the Gretar Fleet. None of this makes any sense to begin with, nevermind the three males I can’t seem to avoid. But they say we have a connection, that we’re a circle, whatever that means. And my body seems to agree, because anytime they’re near, I can’t seem to think of anything except Kyte’s horns, Jeren’s smirk, and Ceredes’s long, hard … sword. Focusing on class is almost impossible, and the Omega Academy isn’t for the faint of heart. I have to learn who my enemies are, how to make friends, and how I fit with the three males I can’t stop thinking about. All doable, right? No. Not right, especially when I discover the fleet has other plans for me. The bond with my three males may be the only thing that can keep me safe, but that means we need to consummate our circle. Yeah, you read that right, consummate. Deep. Breaths.

Lily’s Note: Omega Academy is a full-length novel and the first book of the Omega Academy trilogy

My Thoughts 💭

This was an amazing story and I can’t wait until the next book. Lana is taken from Earth and she believes it’s a mistake but 3 Alphas are sure it isn’t because she is theirs. They were so cute and I loved the chemistry between them. The drama and secrets started unraveling at the end and I’m left needing to know what happens next.

This stand-alone novella is the second book in the Taste For Love Series – stories of men and women who love life and each other deeply.

Taste for Coffee (Taste for Love, #1)

Romance author Francine Beaton published her first romance novel — a contemporary sports romance called EYE ON THE BALL— in April 2018 after she first started writing in July 2016. Her latest novel, TASTE FOR WINE, will be the second in her TASTE FOR LOVE SERIES and her thirteenth novel. Francine currently calls Pretoria home until the travel bug bites again. She loves travelling to faraway places and considers Scotland her second home. When she’s not reading or writing about love and Happily Ever After, she’s most likely busy painting or taking photos of everything that catches her eye. During rugby season, you’ll either find her next to the pitch or in front of the television, following her favourite teams. It’s probably not difficult to figure out why her debut novel, Eye on the Ball, as well as the series, Playing for Glory, has rugby as a theme.
