What the hell is wrong with me right now?I never get distracted by men. Never. Synopsis

I have blood on my hands.

Blood that isn’t mine.

I had thought I had escaped my past. I had thought I had finally freed myself.

But can you really escape your monsters?

With a gang war looming on the horizon, bodies piling up, and a strange new student claiming ties to the Shadow Man, I find myself looking into my past.

Will I be able to uncover the mysteries surrounding my upbringing and the Shadow Man?

And what if the monster that needs to be stopped is me?

This is a reverse harem slow-burn horror novel. It is the second in a series. This book WILL END IN A CLIFFHANGER. If that bothers you, please wait until all books are released. With this style of series, not all questions will be answered every book, and more might pop up along the way. At the end of the series, there will be a HEA for Cami and her guys.

WARNING: This book contains language, violence, horror themes, and sexual situations that may not be appropriate for people of all ages.

My thoughts 💭

The creepy goodness continues in book 2. That cliffhanger had on the edge of my seat! The guys have accepted they are apart of Cami’s harem and are all in with her and finding answers to why she’s haunted by the shadow man. I enjoyed this book.

I feel like I should say I DNF book 3 of the series. It got uninteresting for me.

Excerpt

He pulled her into his arms. “Good night, Mila.”
She looked up at him, frowning. “What? All that build up. I thought we’d—”
“Screw each other’s brains out?” He didn’t let go of her. “I told you, I want to enjoy you. I want to savour you.”
Mila pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. “So, this is a marathon, not a sprint.” Which was fine, except she was horny as hell.
He tilted his head. “More or less.” He lowered his head to hers, his lips millimetres from hers. “There will be sex. If I have my way, lots of it. But you’re tired.”
She nodded and lifted her face to him. He lowered his face to her. His lips brushed hers before pressing against her mouth. The kiss deepened and ignited her entire body. She had to restrain herself from mounting him. He threaded his hands through her hair, and she let out a gasp, opening her mouth to him. Their tongues danced; the world disappeared. He pushed her against the door, holding her up as she melted into him. His erection was hard and large against her belly. Too soon, he pulled away. They were both panting as he held on to her while she found her footing.
Yeah, they were going to have to take things slow if they were going to enjoy each other. Because , wow, that kiss was explosive. It was more than she imagined, and it still left her wanting more.
He let go of her. “Sweet dreams, Mila.”

SYNOPSIS

When a shy woman inherits a ranch, she’ll have to find an inner strength to succeed—and open herself up to love—in this heartwarming novel from New York Times bestselling author Victoria James.

Sarah Turner has led a very sheltered life. So when her parents pass away tragically, suddenly she’s left in charge of the family ranch with little know-how but plenty of will to keep it afloat. Determined not to lose her parents’ legacy or her newfound independence, she needs a hero fast—not to save her, but to show her how to save herself. But she’s unprepared for the ruggedly handsome cowboy who answers her ad.

“Cowboy for Hire,” the ad said, and Cade Walker is quick to respond. Betrayed as ranch manager by his former boss, he’s looking for a new place to put down roots—without the pressure to prove himself again. Except when he meets his new boss, it’s clear he’s not only there to run a ranch but to also teach Miss Independent how to run it. But as they struggle to make the ranch flourish, they’ll both need courage if they hope to find a family…together.

Excerpt

She stole a glance behind her, seeking out the figure of one man among all those cowboys. She spotted Cade immediately, not going in the direction of the bunkhouse or his house, insteadstriding toward her. His hat was pulled down low, but he moved with the same grace and strength as always. You would never think they’d just been onthe same cattle drive. She tried not to hate him for it.

“Hi,” he said as soon as he was within earshot.

“Hi,” she said.

“I, uh, I just wanted to say that you did good out there; you should be proud of yourself. Get a
good night’s sleep. Tomorrow you’re going to hurt like hell, but that satisfaction of what you accom-plished will help you get through it—along withsome ibuprofen. It’s a pleasure to work alongside you.”

That praise pierced her in the heart. This man she barely knew had offered her more praise
in two weeks’ time than her parents ever had. She had accomplished so little the last ten years
and now, here she was, pursuing her dreams, not failing, not scared. “You too. Thank you for never patronizing me or holding me back. This was verypersonal for me,” she said, holding his gaze.

“I get that. So...I’ll pick you up tomorrow around seven?”

“Tomorrow?”

“The welcome-back party,” he said.

Right. That was tomorrow. She wasn’t sure she’d even be able to walk tomorrow, let alone go
to a party. “Yes, uh, of course. Looking forward to it,” she said, alarmed that her voice sounded
breathy. It wasn’t a date.

“Me too.” He reached forward and gently grasped her wrists, and her breath caught in her
throat as he slowly turned them over, looking at her hands. Her palms were blistered and dirty.
He held her hands gently in his larger ones and winced. “Take a long, hot shower and clean these
out, then put some kind of balm on them. Drink a lot of water, have dinner and ibuprofen. You’ll
wake up feeling like a new person.”

Her breath was caught somewhere between here and the reality of how easy it would be to fall
for this man. He didn’t coddle her like everyone else. He hadn’t dismissed her—he’d helped build her up into the beginnings of the person she wanted to be. He hadn’t judged her, hadn’t madeher feel inferior—he’d encouraged her and he’d helped her. No, he’d given her everything she’d ever wanted since he’d come to work here, so many dreams come true.

With that, he gave a small tip of his hat, and her throat constricted painfully as she stared into his
eyes, shadowed under the hat’s brim. He turned and strode back toward his house, broad shoul
ders, lean form, walking as though there wasn’t an ache in his entire body…and he became the star of every single fantasy she’d ever had about the kind of man she wanted. She placed her hand over her racing heart. Wow.

ABOUT VICTORIA JAMES

Victoria James is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance.

Victoria always knew she wanted to be a writer and in grade five, she penned her first story, bound it (with staples and a cardboard cover) and did all the illustrations herself. Luckily, this book will never see the light of day again.

In high school she fell in love with historical romance and then contemporary romance. After graduating University with an English Literature degree, Victoria pursued a degree in Interior Design and then opened her own business. After her first child, Victoria knew it was time to fulfill her dream of writing romantic fiction.

Victoria is a hopeless romantic who is living her dream, penning happily-ever-after’s for her characters in between managing kids and the family business. Writing on a laptop in the middle of the country in a rambling old Victorian house would be ideal, but she’s quite content living in suburbia with her husband, their two young children, and very bad cat.

Synopsis

When I was three-years-old, I was found homeless in the woods, alone and feral.

When asked how I survived all of those years by myself, I had one answer: the Shadow Man.

I have no memory of that time. No memory of anything, really, before the accident. I rely on stories from my fathers about this supposed imaginary friend.

Got into a fight at school? The Shadow Man made me. Stole from a store? He forced me to. Snuck out of the house? He came with me.

I had almost completely forgotten about him.

Until I move into the horror house – the house rumored to be a gateway to hell. Strange things keep happening, and I am helpless to prevent them.

More importantly, people keep dying.

Particularly, people that harm me.

It’s already a struggle to survive a new high school and town (including the attention of a dangerous gang), but now I have to survive ghosts too?

One thing becomes painstakingly clear:

The Shadow Man wants me to come home.

This is a young adult, slow-burn, horror reverse harem romance. It is the first in a series and WILL end in a cliff-hanger!

My thoughts 💭

This book was creepy and good! I was hooked from beginning to end and I can’t wait to find out what’s next for Cami!

Womanizer. Player.
We all know them. And sometimes, we’ve loved one.

My first mistake was to trust the rocker with a charming smile. My second, believing he’d never hurt me.

My final mistake will not be to repeat steps one and two.

People change as they mature. They live, and they learn. Emery? He’s not one of those people.
He tells me that he needs me, and I wish I could say I didn’t feel the same.
Problem is, I’m also one of those people who never change. But I do learn …

And I know that the worst mistake I could make wouldn’t be to repeat the past.
It would be to let him go.

Review: Fake It ‘Til You Break It by Megan Brandy

Length: 367 pages

Published: February 5, 2020

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Source: Kindle Unlimited

Synopsis

Fake.

That’s what we are.

That’s what we agreed to be.

I thought it would be harder, convincing everyone our school’s star receiver was mine and mine alone, but we played our parts well.

So well, the lines between us began to blur until they disappeared completely.

The thing about pretending, though, someone’s always better at it, and by the time I realized my mistake, there was no going back.

I fell for our lie.

And then everything fell apart.

It turned out, he and I were never playing the same game.

He didn’t have to break me to win.

But he did it anyway.

My thoughts 💭

I loved Demi and Nico’s story! Their chemistry was amazing! Demi thought she knew what she wanted but the more time she spent with Nico she realized she may be needing something different than she originally thought. Nico finally gets the girl he’s always wanted right where he wants her but secrets try to tear them apart but neither really ever gives up on the other. This was an enjoyable read. I definitely recommend!
