It’s ok.” His breath tickled the hair on my forehead as he whispered – so close. “It’s going to be ok. We’ll figure this out.”
I tipped my head back to look him in the eyes, the hood of my coat falling off. “Will we?”
“We have to.” He said it with such conviction, I had no choice but to believe him, but I suddenly seemed to have forgotten how to speak. I couldn’t force my mouth to form words. All I could do was stare into his eyes as his arms warmed me and his smell reminded me of long summer days on the beach – fresh and warm and happy. His eyes made me feel like I was both drowning and saved at the same time.

“Waiting for your next victim?” a cool, dark voice asks from my left.

“What do you want?” I ask without turning around. His voice alone sends shivers down my spine. God only knows what seeing his smug smile and sharp jaw would do to me right now.
Stupidly, I let my guard down tonight. I liked this book. It does touch on some sensitive subjects so beware. Emmy thinks she’s getting a fresh start but someone wants to make sure that doesn’t happen and that she pays for her sins. Sterling was so frustrating but he got better as the story went on. I liked Emmy, I thought she was a little naive but super sweet. The supporting characters were amazing and gave Emmy the type of surroundings she needed. I recommend this book.

I unplant one hand from the wall behind her and drag my finger over the wet path before stroking my fingers over her silky dark hair.

Her breath shudders and my lips turn up in a devious grin. I affect her just as she does me. I’m sure of it.

This was a good read. I wouldn’t mind reading more of this series. There’s more to Lucas than the show he puts on and he realizes he can’t continue the show and get the girl he wants.

My Thoughts 💭

I really liked this book but I felt it started of kind of slow. Sarah has no knowledge of who she really is. She’s just lost her mother and is sort of guided to attend a magical history school that isn’t what it seems. By the time the action starts its over before you know it lol! It’s a slow burn romance so not much happens between Sarah and her bullies. I’m definitely interested in reading the next book.
