Review: Monsters by Katie May

Synopsis

As the daughter of Dracula, you would think I’d be born the perfect monster.

You couldn’t be more wrong.

As far as monsters go, I’m a screw up—if I’m not tripping over my own feet, I’m accidentally murdering someone (it’s a real issue, guys).

Left with no choice, Dad decides to send me to Prodigium—otherwise known as Monster Academy—to train me on how to be a better monster.

When bodies turn up on campus, I’m the prime suspect (not that I can blame them. I’ll be pretty suspicious too if bodies drained of blood show up right after Dracula’s daughter arrives).

With the help of my mortal-nemesis Vin, Van Helsing’s son

Frankie, Frankenstein’s son

Mason, Medusa’s son

And Jack (sometimes Hux), Dr. Jekyll’s son

I might have a chance of uncovering the truth.

If I’m not murdered first.

The struggles of being a vampire, am I right?

This is a horror comedy reverse harem with some dark elements. After all, you can’t have a bunch of monsters without some darkness. This is book one of a series.

My thoughts 💭

This book was honestly hilarious and cute. Violet is a horrible vampire so her Dad sends her to school to become a better monster. Most of the people at dislike vampires and a some want her dead. She meets Jack/Hux, Vin, Mason and Frankie who are her mates but she’s kind of adorably clueless. I can’t wait to read what’s next for these monsters!

Vampire Girl 3: Silver Flame

Vampire Girl 4: Moonlight Prince

Vampire Girl 5: First Hunter

Vampire Girl 6: Unseen Lord

My Thoughts 💭

I liked this book. Ari finds out what about her is so special. Fin also finds out he’s so much more than a prince of Hell. Asher was kind of disappointing. He’s fallen for his fathers lies and I’m kind of surprised he didn’t question things more. I enjoyed the action and drama.

Synopsis

You think it’s safe to walk alone at night. It’s not.

You think the only threat is other humans. It’s not.

Monsters are real. Demons are real. Vampires are real.

And I’m about to become one of them.

My name is Arianna Spero. I was an ordinary girl, living an ordinary life, until my mother lapsed into a coma. Now, I am her only hope. She made a deal with the devil, and on my 18th birthday he came to collect. But there’s a way to save her. There’s something the princes of hell want more than my mother.

Me.

So I signed my soul away and promised to pick a prince to marry. I would take the blood oath, become one of them, and give them an heir. I would become a princess of hell, and my mother would live.

I expected fire and brimstone. I expected pain and misery. I didn’t expect beauty. I didn’t expect magic.

I didn’t expect love.

But the princes are keeping secrets from me.

Secrets that could shatter everything.

My Thoughts 💭

This was an enjoyable read. Ari finds out her mom made a deal with the devil and to save her mom she has to choose one of Hell’s princes to be her mate/ husband/ king(I forgot…don’t judge lol). There’s more to Ari and the ending proved that to be true. By the end I didn’t know who to trust! I thought Fen was kind of innocent but he’s not! The warning Ari got in the beginning to not trust anyone was correct lol.

For this to happen, Lorena would have to have a child with one of the four sons of Vlad. Commonly known as vampires.

Now she has to choose which of the four eligible vampire bachelors will be the father of her child.

However, before she makes her choice, she must first live with them. All of them, at the same time…

Welcome To The House Of Vampires!

Things get very interesting in this vampire romance series aimed at adults. If you liked Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Twilight or anything that is sexy and paranormal then you will LOVE this!

My Thoughts 💭

I was expecting a reverse harem but this definitely wasn’t it. Alan is in love with Dimitri. So he’s out. Dimitri kind of gets on Lorena’s nerves. So that leaves Wei. She likes one guy. Possibly 2 if Zane is interested. This series isn’t for me and I won’t be reading the other 2 books.

Synopsis

He’d waited an eternity to find her.

Athena captivated her audience every night. Her husky voice, sensual moves and megawatt smile, packed the nightclub where she sang. It was her name on the lips of her audience. Everyone wanted a piece of her—even him.

One song and Sorin was enthralled by the beauty on the stage. Her voice awoke a part of him he had thought to be dead long ago. She had no idea of the power she wielded over him with one glance, one smile and one kiss. Never one to pursue a human before, he couldn’t ignore the hunger that burned for her. Only she can satisfy him, but he will first need to protect her from the ones who want him dead.

Forever Desired is a novella featured in the Vampire Brides series. All books in the Vampire Brides series are standalone and can be read in any order.

My Thoughts 💭

Athena caught Sorin’s attention and the rest was history or fate! Sorin pursues Athena and their chemistry is amazing. This book is hot and sweet with a group that hates vampires. I enjoyed reading and I definitely recommend if you love a good vampire romance!

Prince Of Blood By Ana Calin!

Length:165 pages

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Synopsis

Dracula exists.

For centuries he’s been lurking in the underworld, searching for the one woman whose blood can make him invincible–

Dracula’s Grail.

A shadow stalks librarian Ruxandra Len, a demonic power from a past she can’t remember. Intrigued when she discovers that her bloodline leads back to the notorious Prince Dracula, she travels to the Carpathians to learn more. But what she finds is a truth darker than legend.

The Prince of Blood fascinates Rux. His dark energy weaves a web of enchantment around her, making her crave him. But just as the Dark Lord thinks she’s ready to surrender her blood, the deepest shadow of her past emerges. Can Vlad Dracula defeat an even older, darker legend, and protect the woman who means the world to him in more ways than he likes to admit?

My Thoughts 💭

This was a nice twist to the Dracula story. Ruxandra is tricked into going to Bran castle to try to lift her curse. Vlad has been looking for Dracula’s Grail and finally found it after it had been hidden from him. Vlad had planned to kill Ruxandra to become invincible but he falls in love with her after meeting her. I wasn’t a fan of how he would be cold in front of his men but her lover behind closed doors. I liked how Rux wanted him to stop ruling with fear. That would’ve solved a few problems if he wasn’t so cold towards his vampires. Overall I liked the book.

Synopsis from Goodreads

Candy had just finished her late-night set at Simply Comedy and was relaxing with a cup of coffee at a local diner. She was a creature of habit, and this was her post-show ritual. She would drink coffee, work on her comedy routines, and watch the world go about its business until she was ready to go home. Candy had no reason to believe that this night would be any different until a man approached her table and requested an audience. He was cloaked in shadow, obviously a vampire – a vampire with a story to tell.

This storyteller was no stranger, even though Candy had never met him. He was a famed musician, known only by a single letter – K. K was the enigmatic lead singer and guitarist for the all-vampire band Nocturna. Candy didn’t know much about him, no one did. All aspects of his private life were cloaked in the same shadows that clung to him.

Intrigued, Candy offered him a seat. The story he told would unveil his life and his passion, leading Candy down a path that would shatter her comfortable routine, and change the course of her life forever.

My Thoughts 💭

This was a easy read. K is a vampire who has encountered his Azmuri or spirit song a few times over his long life and she’s finally been born again as Candy. Candy is kind of skeptical about the reincarnation thing but just goes with it since she’s really into K. They are a cute sarcastic couple and I loved their chemistry. K is ready to become mortal and live out his days with Candy so he won’t have to be without her again but his family isn’t ready for him to leave them just yet. He may have been tired but him giving up as grand master would have left all of his people at risk. And it didn’t seem like him becoming mortal would actually let him grow old with Candy.🤷🏾‍♀️. His sons suggested that he have a talk with Candy to see if she’d be willing to be turned. While she was considering being turned a horrible car accident and K’s twin Lilith made the decision for them both. Overall, I liked the book and the characters.

Synopsis

When my brother, the King, married fifteen-years ago, I welcomed his new family as my own. His wife . . . her baby girl.

My niece by marriage.

I left to war the savages. For years I traveled back and forth, seeing that child age.

But then the last battle kept me away for five years . . .

I’ve returned now to take my rightful place: second-in-command to the throne.

I am everything this kingdom stands for—everything it needs. The kind of pillar not even my brother can aspire to being.

They all look up to me. To maintaining their code.

Yet, they do not know the truth.

In the grip of the shadows, she haunts me at night.

During the day, she smiles and whispers, showing me traces of that sweet little girl.

At night, she’s there, a vision in black. Watching, stalking . . . no words need to be said.

She knows.

I’m losing the battle. This thing between us is an evil spark.

Thousands of years of honor are threatened—about to be shredded by the impossibility of our desire.

She doesn’t care.

It’s in her silence that she kills me . . . and she wields it like a blade.

The savage call of her blood is more than I can handle . . .

And the need to own her body might destroy us both.

Warning: contains themes that aren’t for everyone. Please read at your own caution. 18+.

My Thoughts 💭

Wow! I really enjoyed this book. Obsidian returns home from war to find out his step-niece is all grown up. Obsidian and Calamity are obsessed with each other! Calamity is tired of Obsidian trying to do what he thinks is right and wants him to claim what’s his before someone else does. Obsidian is at war with himself and Calamity’s behavior and his dreams are making him even more crazed and determined to find out the secrets being kept from him. This was a interesting forbidden paranormal romance. While I did really enjoy the book it seemed like when Obsidian finally lost all control it was over. I would have liked to find out what happened when his brother found out.
