Review: Grumpy Dad by Abby Knox

Synopsis

Sunny, eccentric Kindergarten teacher Jewel knows how to charm the typical private school parent. Vince, however, is the only one whose outward stubbornness provokes in her a nearly uncontrollable desire to stroke his beard, squeeze his dad bod and stare at him while he watches Burt Reynolds movies. Hey, whatever works to get more help for the PTA bake sale …

Vince really wishes people would leave him alone. For the most part, they oblige. So why does a gorgeous, relentlessly upbeat Kindergarten teacher keep trying to include him in all this bougie PTA rigmarole? But … if all this nonsense will help five-year-old Max fit in at this fancy school, fine. Just this once, he’ll help; and then everybody’d better leave him alone.

My Thoughts 💭

This was an okay read. Vince was a grumpy single dad and Jewel is his son’s teacher and cheery enough for both of them. They were weird but it worked. This was one of those books where they have weird names for body parts. I almost stopped reading at Nimbus and Luna Lovegood🙄 I cringed so hard 😂 but it was a pretty good read if that’s your thing.

Synopsis

Nineteen-year-old Bellarosa has lived the past three years locked away in a tower, freedom, being only a myth she could fantasize about.

She has tried to break free of her chains but has failed at every attempt. That is, until a friend turns a blind eye and allows for her to escape her confines.

The president of the Savage Beast MC is no easy role to play. Neither is being a single father. His focus has always been his club and his daughter.

At almost forty, Dragon is convinced he will never find a woman to call his own, not unless he buys her.

Both lost souls searching for freedom. Both stumbling upon one another. Unsure if they can trust each other. She searches for happily ever after. He will never be her prince charming.

When two people who learn to trust despite their pasts come together, they become an unstoppable force, something that not even the devil could split apart.

My Thoughts 💭

I enjoyed Bellarosa and Dragon’s story! Bellarosa was so sweet given what was done to her! Dragon was sweet to his girls but totally an alpha male. It was knee weakening lust at first sight with a little denial from Dragon that quickly went out the window at the thought of other men having Bella! This was a hot & steamy action filled story I definitely recommend!

The Marriage of Time is the third standalone book in the steamy Called by a Viking series of time-travel romances. If you like sexy Nordic adventures, engaging characters, and heart-wrenching twists, then you’ll love Mariah Stone’s captivating story.

My Thoughts 💭

This was a cute time travel romance. Mia and Hakon were so adorable. Mia is thrown back in time while trying to get away from her ex and she’s threatened if she isn’t the princess Hakon is supposed to marry. They fall in love despite their differences. There’s a little drama when the real princess Hakon was supposed to marry shows up and Mia making a foolish choice but it was a pretty good read!

Review: The Irish Don’s Black Beauty By Rose Marie

Length:337 pages

Synopsis

It was love at first sight…well for Kahlani Edwards it was. The object of her affection…not so much. She loved his quiet, subdued and nerdy persona. She dreamed of playing in his fiery red hair, and she wanted nothing more than for him to love her back.

Little did she know that underneath the quiet and mysterious exterior of Connor O’Shea was a death dealing crime boss and heir to an Irish mob.

It was meant to be nothing more than a pity date. That’s all. How did it turn into complete obsession? How did this girl who was neither his type nor in his league bring him to his knees? Love? Never wanted it. Peace? Overrated! Anything that brought emotional attachment was not apart of his agenda, so why would he be willing to change course for anyone…. let alone her.

My Thoughts 💭

This was an okay read for me….I kind of liked the storyline but I think the way the Irish accents were typed was throwing me off a little bit. Kahlani was very naive but lovable. Conner has issues but loves his beauty. I didn’t care for how it left off. The snippet of part two has me unsure if I’d continue with their story.

Review: The Devil Who Would Be King by Betty Banks

Length:187 pages

Published: August 7,2019

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Synopsis

Scar:

I’m known as the Prince with the scar.

The bad boy royal.

You know, the one serving life for murder.

Until my parents, the King and Queen of Genvora, are killed.

And now they have no choice but to set me free.

I’m the devil who’s about to become King.

But before I take the throne, I have some business to attend to.

And I feel like taking my hot PR manager along for the ride.

Although— there’s something not quite right about her.

She doesn’t flinch when I kidnap her.

She doesn’t blink when my bullet skims her cheek.

No, I don’t trust her at all.

And I’m obsessed with finding out why.

Warning:

You might not want to fall in love with Scar, but he won’t give you a choice.

The Devil Who Would Be King is a (very, very) dark interracial romance. First in the series. Be prepared for a jaw-dropping cliffhanger!

My Thoughts 💭

This was a good read. Angel is trying to show her family she’s one of them and ready for more serious work. It kind of backfires when Scar is totally aware of her plans and they are falling for each other. They had some good chemistry. I enjoyed the book and wouldn’t mind reading what comes next for Angel and Scar.

Review: The Burn Of The Underworld by Meg Xuemei X

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Length:355 pages

Published: May 16, 2019

Source: Kindle Unlimited

Synopsis

Escaping hell is nothing compared to the mating fever. One just feels a lot better.

My name is Calamity.

I have no past or future, just a life fighting to the death in the arena. I never expected this to change, but then three smoking-hot supernatural warriors arrive in my wrecked world, claiming I’m the lost queen and their fated mate.

They come to bring me back to the Upper Realm to claim my stolen birthright, despite the fact that no one has ever escaped the Underworld.

As a branded slave, I don’t trust anyone, but I can’t deny the power now awakening inside me, anymore than I can deny my fatal attraction to the immortal males who fight beside me.

Warning: This is a full-length reverse harem fantasy romance that features one hell of a hybrid woman warrior and her four powerful mates. It contains battles, explicit love scenes, curses, magic, dark fae, vampires, shifters, fallen angels, and a lot of demon assholes.

My Thoughts 💭

This was a interesting story. I enjoyed the action and Calamity being kind of a bada••! This is a steamy reverse harem that ends in a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read what’s next for Queen Calamity and her mates.

Review: Angels And Assassins by K. Alex Walker

Synopsis

Giorgio Pozza is known by many names—beast, monster, grim reaper. Born in secret and hidden within the forests of Russia, he was trained to kill. Raised to kill. Death and destruction are virtually the only things he has ever known or cared for…until he meets Mo.

Mo is warm and affectionate. She’s also a contract killer. Disguised as an exotic dancer, she infiltrates a clandestine, underground Russian strip club in search of the target of her newest kill order—billionaire heir and prodigal son, Mischa Ivanovich.

While onstage, Mo scopes out the club and notices only three other bounty hunters present, and it’s three she knows she can easily overpower. At least, if they are foolish enough to get in her way. But when she gets close enough to Mischa to stick her blade into his neck, she realizes her mistake. There was one more, lurking in the shadows, and it’s the man whose name reverberates fear.

However, in those dark, secret tunnels beneath the city of Moscow, a fighter’s intensity turns into lust. A killer’s rage becomes raw passion. Mo’s solo mission turns into an unexpected, erotic weekend in a luxury hotel suite. And it is there, after her one-night stand with a killer, she begins to realize how much more there is to her dark knight, and how quickly she has gone from being his adversary…to being the target of his desire.

Hot, steamy romance, suspense and action all come together in this highly anticipated series standalone. Note: The Dark Knight can be read without first completing the other novels in the series. After this book, however, look for Gage: The Wolf. You’ll want to.

My Thoughts 💭

I absolutely loved Gio and Mo! Two assassins fall in love and it’s soooo adorable! I enjoyed this books twists and turns and action! I definitely recommend!

SYNOPSIS

A made man versus the cartel …

The job was simple—a contract from a powerful crime family to retrieve Valeria Lòpez. A woman believed to have been forcibly taken by one of the major cartels in Mexico. Easy enough, right?

Christopher Guzzi thought so, but the details made it difficult. He didn’t expect to trick his way into the path of the cartel leader only to develop feelings for the woman he was meant to recover. That leader’s wife. Every step he takes is risky, and one wrong move could leave them both dead. Too bad that’s not enough to keep him away from Valeria as he tries to find a way to free her.

Hope is a dangerous thing.
Love is even worse.

Here, everybody plays dirty.
No one can be trusted.
So, how do they get out alive?

Note: Chris is book 3 in The Guzzi Legacy. It is a standalone novel.

My Thoughts 💭

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this book even though it made me feel so anxious! It was a very well written book and had me hooked from the beginning! Val and Chris were kind of forbidden but it happened and will have you on the edge of your seat and you won’t regret it!

Title: Kain
Series: Immortal Mackays
Author: K.R. Ruth
Genre: Mafia Romance

My unannounced marriage…felt like a deep void.
Felt like an open wound rubbed with sandpaper.
Felt like shards of glass shoved brutally beneath my throat.
Because after exchanging our wedding bands, I was questioned and kissed, kissed and questioned by Kain Riordan right there at the altar.
Who would be asking such disturbing questions to his lawfully wedded wife?
Kain would.
Also, I think I just fell for him right there in his arms.
Besides that, I realized it was way too late, especially when fate brought the cracked-up voice to life, from my past.
I was torn between love and fate!
And I was about to choose.
Love was my weapon.
Fate was my battlefield.
